A Soothing Feeling

Soother is a lovely, average-sized glass butt plug that is a good price for its high quality. It has a curvaceous body with a ring on its end to keep the plug from going in too far, that also makes this plug fairly versatile in its uses. The plug is great for people that are experienced in anal play who enjoy a full-feeling without being "overfilled."

Use

The Soother Butt Plug is, as its name implies, designed to be a butt plug. It holds temperature extremely well, and can be placed in either boiling or very cold water (or put in the freezer; when doing this, make sure to let it warm up gradually) to give either end of the spectrum of temperature play. The plug has a ring that's made for easy insertion and secure placement, and it has a curvaceous body that can be easily welcomed into the anal canal with a bit of work-up. Before using this on a partner, wash both the plug and your hands and dry thoroughly. Soother can be used with any lubricant, oil-, silicone-, or water-based.

Since it is glass, I do not recommend that inexperienced anal play users buy this plug—it's quite heavy, and may be hard to keep inside of the tush without a feeling overwhelmed. For size kings/queens who are experienced in anal play, this plug may be too "small" or "light" for them to enjoy. It is, however, very versatile, as the ring allows for certain things to be done; I personally love tying string or rope to the ring and pulling it out very quickly (if you like this idea, I recommend doing it on either a bed or padded flooring, as you don't want to pull the glass plug out and have it break on tile/wood floor).

Because of both its size, design, and weight, this should not be worn for longer periods of time, outside of the home (to keep it from breaking or bruising the inside of the anus), and should not be sat on. Be very cautious with glass materials, as glass is fragile.

Material / Texture

Made of tempered glass, this plug is nonporous and sterilizable. It's also fairly weighty, more weighty than silicone, rubber, or other materials. Glass has no give to it whatsoever, and is firm as rock—take out a wine glass and feel it with your hands a bit, you will see its firmness. This is not a hollow glass plug; it's solid and has very few imperfections (the imperfections are only inside of the glass itself and cannot be felt internally or externally). Since it is so weighty, and because it does hold temperatures very well, I do not recommend people just starting anal play to use it. It's not something that's a starter toy, it's definitely for people well-versed anally.

Glass is always extremely smooth, even when there are bumps and ridges, and Soother is no exception. It can be rubbed on a person's skin before use for teasing, and inserted with little lube (use any of your favorite lubricants, as glass can be used with anything and becomes very slick with only a small amount). Since my Soother is a light pink color, translucent, it can be seen through and if touched a lot can acquire some fingerprints which are noticeable. Glass is also scent and tasteless, taking away the worry of this lovely piece making your home smell bad.

Design / Shape / Size

Soother, the bum plug, reminds me of Luxotiq's Hera dildo. It is smaller, however, and more curvaceous than Hera. Rather than being a thin, long piece of glass, Soother's bulges are rounder. The plug also has a ring that serves as a means to remove the plug and keep it in without letting it be sucked up and therefore irretrievable. Because of its design, this is the type of glass plug that makes a "popping" sound when it's inserted into a well-lubricated, ready bottom. It has two bulbs, the first inserted smaller than the second, and has a heavy weight to it.

Soother has an entry ball that's spherical with a diameter of 1", making it easy to insert in the anus and also very small. The smaller bulb tapers down to a 3/4" diameter at the neck, which is only about 3/8" in length. With a 1 1/2" diameter, the second bulb is certainly harder to insert than the first. There is no wiggle room between the first and the second, so know your limits (or push them). The total length of Soother is about 6 1/4", including the ring. The ring, which can be used for fingers to hold onto or for string to pull on, is an inch in diameter and 1 3/4" in length. Only an inch is allowed for fingers; I was able to fit one of mine comfortably.

Performance

Because the shape is so lovely, I found that it's also very good for vaginal use, like the Hera dildo. This is my first glass product, and I absolutely love it. It's weighty, but not enough to make it intimidating to someone who has never had glass before, and it's absolutely gorgeous. The ring used as a base makes the plug very comfortable to wear, as no edges dig into the bum cheeks at any time, and the curved body allows for smooth insertion. The ring also keeps Soother from being sucked into the anal canal.

I had originally used much too much lubricant with it that was a more watery substance and the plug was repeatedly slipping out because of that. After trying it out with a thicker lubricant, it did stay in very well, in any position. It was able to be worn while walking around, though I do not believe that it's good for keeping in for longer periods of time, because glass has the ability to bruise the anal canal, even if it's beautifully rounded like Soother.

Care and Maintenance

Glass is very easy to clean, and it's also sterilizable, making it great for people who have multiple partners or who like to share with one partner (can be used for any couple where both partners enjoy anal plugs). You can boil glass to sterilize it, or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. I personally prefer boiling it, as I do not like putting it in either the washing machine or using bleach. After cleaning it in this way, store it. I do recommend, when taking it out for use, to give it a quick rinse with warm water.

Always keep Soother somewhere nice and safe, where it won't break and will not be exposed to extreme climate/temperature change. Generally, people like to keep glass products in well-padded places where they're sure it will not break; this is a very good idea in order to keep Soother safe and ready for use.

Packaging

Soother comes in a box-like packaging that has a polyester (with a satin-like texture) inside and it closes by a magnet. The plug is tightly kept in place by both an elastic band and a little ribbon tie. It's very lovely, and I intend to keep it. Inside the box is a cotton, with suede-like finish, drawstring miniature bag that is good for keeping Soother pretty and smudge-free. On the back of the box, there are little bullets of information in a few different languages, telling how to keep Soother clean, how to store, and how to use for temperature play. They warn against putting Soother in the microwave (and they're right—do not ever put glass toys in the microwave).

Personal comments

Since I have never used glass, I've noticed that this glass plug does not retain scents of any type. Even a simple quick rinse removes any traces of fluids or scents, which is a great thing.
Follow-up commentary
What's there to say about this lovely plug? I still love it. It's held up well, and there's literally nothing wrong with it. It's a really easy-to-use plug, and I've found that my favorite material for anal products is glass, just because of how easily it glides in and how well it holds up to frequent use. I currently keep it in its box, but I'll soon most likely get rid of that and keep it in a plush, satin drawstring bag. The drawstring bag that it comes with is not padded, so it is not that great for storage or travel.

For its price, in comparison to other similar design, this plug is really worth it.

Here are some pictures on my blog that I took of the plug that I had forgotten to post.

So beautiful. The ring looks great, too. I do have a big butt and there's not a lot of room for base. your slipping problems only involved it slipping out? It won't slip in, right?
  • Contributor: Sir
I definitely understand what you mean. Sometimes, with people with larger bottoms, bases are uncomfortable and dig into their skin, so the ring is really great. And no, it didn't slip in, it was slipping and being pushed out. The ring keeps it from being sucked in.
