If this is what messing around with Slim feels like, I'm going to spit into the wind

I firmly believe that everyone should own at least one anal plug, and the Slim is the best I've seen yet. If you're trying to introduce a wary partner to anal play, the Slim is a perfect start. Simple as it is, the Slim can be incorporated into just about any type of sexual activity. While it's not an earth-shattering breakthrough in sex-technology, it's comfortable, versatile, and above all, fun to use.

Use

One could not ask for a better butt plug. Simple as it is, the Tantus Slim is probably the most versatile toy I own: it's flexible enough to be comfortable in just about any position and during any type of movement; it feels great whether pushed on gently, left in place, or used like a dildo for a full on in-and-out motion; the size is modest without being too small; the texture is velvety and smooth enough for rigorous play; and unlike many slimmer plugs, the Slim usually stays in place on its own.

There really isn't a bad way to use this toy: it can be incorporated into virtually any sort of sexual activity you can imagine. If you're a guy who likes anal stimulation, or a beginner who is curious about anal play, the slim is a comfortable size and feels great simply left in place during masturbation. If you have a Fleshlight or some other kind of stroker you can use hands-free by thrusting into it, I'd recommend using that while wearing the slim. The motion of your body during the thrusting movement will cause the plug to move inside of you, giving you hands-free stimulation on both ends.

Naturally, the same rings true during partner play, with the added benefit that your partner can manually manipulate the Slim. My girlfriend experimented by pushing inward on the base, stroking the base in both directions, or simply gripping the base and pulling the plug in and out. The latter of the three created a much more intense sensation which might be a bit too rough for beginners, although she had me literally begging for more. The sensation of simply stroking or pushing firmly on the base of the plug is more than enough to make the toy worth purchasing, and is probably more well-suited to those who have a hard time relaxing enough for more rigorous anal play. The only suggestion my girlfriend had was that she'd have liked it if the base of the plug was easier to grip.

I can't speak to female experience on the receiving end, but my girlfriend has mentioned that, even though she's not a big fan of anal play, she's willing to give this one a shot. For those who are curious but trepidatious or have had a bad experiences with anal in the past, you might want to try this out as an easy introduction or reintroduction to anal play.

Material / Texture

This is one of the areas in which the Slim truly shines. While I remain curious as to why anyone would want to investigate, I did, and found that the Slim has no discernible taste, or at least none so apparent that one could find it unpleasant. Likewise, it has virtually no smell. The soft silicone is velvety, smooth, and flexible without seeming flaccid. In fact, the material has so much give that it sort of contours to the shape of your insides, feeling smaller than it looks without sacrificing that nice feeling of fullness a great plug can give you. I've used smaller toys that felt larger and harder to accommodate, as well as larger toys which didn't provide as much sensation. The surface texture also created less friction than some other silicone toys I've used, which made rigorous movement easier. The Slim provides a perfect combination of flexibility and smoothness that makes anal play easy with minimal warm-up time.

Design / Shape / Size

The most salient element of the Slim's design, for me, was the size. It's a strange and backward life I lead, now that my inability to cram large objects up my butt makes me feel like a total wuss. Consider for the moment how absurd I felt the day I was unable to fit a dildo comfortably in my rear and thought to myself, "Come on, stop being a little bitch and start... being a little bitch. Huh. Didn't see that coming." My concepts of masculinity and gender roles were shaken more thoroughly by that thought than they were the day I realized I wanted to try pegging in the first place.

I bring this up to illustrate that, although my love for anal play is boundless, my inability to accommodate girth remains an object of frustration and embarrassment. This toy may indeed be too small for those rockstars of anal play who can substitute spit for lube and get down with toys meant for vaginal play. While I'm no novice, my opinion may be tainted by the fact that I don't need, nor can I accommodate, large toys. That said, I do feel as though the Slim is a great size for novices and more experienced users alike. It isn't so small that one doesn't feel the toy, but it isn't so large that it should scare anyone off. Furthermore, the Slim tapers so gradually that it slips in with very little resistance and comes out just as easily when you want it to. Even small toys like the Aneros MGX can be uncomfortable to remove if the design isn't tapered gradually, whereas the Slim is easy to put in and take out, yet manages to stay in place rather nicely.

If I have any criticism of the design, it is that the toy may not taper drastically enough at the base, which might cause it to pop out. I personally didn't have any problems with this, but I could see it being a problem, particularly for women wearing it during sex. Pressure on the toy through the vaginal wall could easily force it out, which might be drawback for users who want to leave it in place.

As for the aesthetics of the toy, I personally find it very pleasant to look at. It isn't particularly phallic, but you won't fool anybody by telling them it's some kind of sculpture or chew toy. Anyone familiar with the term "butt plug" will know exactly what it is they're looking at, but the toy is easy to conceal and store, so nobody is likely to see it unless you want them to.

Performance

I certainly had some apprehensions about the Slim's performance when I first looked at it in the box. The particular type of silicone used for the Slim has a sort of velvety look which, if you haven't felt it before, might seem like it would cause too much friction. I can assure you, however, that it does not. In fact, this sort of silicone creates much less friction than the type used in some of the smoother, shinier looking silicone used for other toys, like the Feeldoe Slim. With what most people would probably describe as dangerously little lubricant and one deep breath, the Slim slid into me easily.

I also had misgivings about whether or not the Slim would stay in place because it doesn't taper much after reaching its widest point. Because it slid in so easily and felt so unobtrusive, I often felt like it would shoot out of me and break something on the other side of the room the instant I or my girlfriend took our hands away from the base. However, it stayed in comfortably during our entire session, and I've since just put it in and walked around my apartment to see if it would stay in place. So far, the Slim hasn't come out unless I wanted it to, and when I do, it always does so without a fight.

Meanwhile, my girlfriend had a blast with this thing. I've never seen her so interested in what was going on with my backside, nor so concerned with crafting different uses for a toy. That said, she was very insistent that the Slim should have some sort of handle she could hold onto, rather than a flat base, and that I should write that in my review. So, while I'm sure you can all see that the Slim has a flat base, like most anal plugs, and is therefore well suited to use from a sitting position, my girlfriend wants you all to know that it would be better for partner play if it had a handle.

I love the Slim; it's still just a new take on an anal plug. The Slim isn't intended to be a prostate stimulator, so I can't see it bringing anyone to the Super Prostate Orgasm promised by some other anal toys. Having had a prostate orgasm, I'd still take the Slim over my Aneros MGX because it is more versatile and, frankly, just a lot more fun to use.

Care and Maintenance

The Slim is incredibly easy to care for. It is made of non-porous, phthalate free, hypo-allergenic, latex free, food-grade silicone, and has no moving parts or batteries. You can boil it, bleach it, put it in the dishwasher, or simply use soap and water. I personally use hot water and a toy cleaner and then let it air dry, which seems to do the job just fine. I store many of my silicone toys in bags to prevent them from attracting lint, but the Slim seems less prone to static and remains hair and lint free in my nightstand without any additional barrier.

I should point out here that, as with all silicone toys, you should not use silicone based lube with the Slim, as it could cause a chemical reaction and melt the toy. If you're going to use lube, which I would recommend, stick with something water-based.

Packaging

The Slim arrived in a clear plastic container that looked like a display case. Aesthetically, it was a great way to present the toy and allowed me to inspect it from every angle before opening. The box itself had some great info on the materials used in the product, as well as some inspirational words about Tantus as a company. The Slim doesn't come with instructions, but its use is straightforward enough that you won't need them. Even if you do, you're already reading my review, so hopefully I've provided all you'll need. If I haven't, feel free to PM me and I'll try to draw you some interesting diagrams.

Follow-up commentary
I'm sorry to say that as my collection has grown, my Slim has gotten substantially less attention. However, with fairly regular use, and after having been subjected to a variety of different lubricants and sprays and bodily fluids, it remains intact. Nevertheless, I renew my words of caution with respect to the Daring or Adventure Anal Relaxing Sprays: my slim still smells faintly like cloves after several months.

Over the long haul, my Slim has become a toy I use strictly for partner play, as I prefer my Billy or my Aneros MGX for prostate stimulation. However, because of the rigidity of the MGX, and the difficulty of using the Billy during partner play, the Slim remains my favorite for wear during intercourse. Furthermore, having used plugs of different types and materials, the Slim's high quality silicone remains my favorite.
