Not that magical

The Black Magic Ribbed Vibe can go both ways, being both good and bad. The design I would say is geared towards the beginner with weaker vibrations, size, and use for both anal and vaginal penetration. I do have to give credit to Doc Johnson for the velvet texture, ribbed design, and waterproofing. Those three combined brought this toy up from a 2 star to a 3 star product. It's not the most exciting thing in the world, but it does offer a lot of variety for a low price.

Use

The best use for this toy is either anal or vaginal insertion, because it was definitely designed to be used either way. Being that this toy is not that powerful, this would definitely be considered a beginner toy. The best time to use this would be alone or with your partner. It is waterproof as well, so use in the tub is just fine.

Material / Texture

The material is an awesome velvet-like plastic, and feels great to the touch. The smooth texture combined with the ribbed design add a lot of extra stimulation, which I enjoyed. It's far too few and in between that I see velvet vibes these days. It also had just the smallest chemical scent to it. Being that the overall design isn't too extreme, especially coupled with the strength of the vibrations, this is definitely a beginner toy. Anally, it might be a bit too big the further you get it in.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is good. Being ribbed, the toy allows for both vaginal and anal play. Due to such large ribs along the length of the toy, it definitely ensures you won't accidentally loose your toy. It's not too big, and not too small either, although the vibration could use some work. Length comes in at 7.25" (6.25" insertable), with a width of about 2" at its largest point. It is one of the more smaller toys out there, so beginners or someone who is traveling would be happy with this item.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The functions is where I had a bit of trouble. The vibrations and the dial located on the base gave me a bit of trouble. You really have to turn the dial at the base quite a bit before any vibrations turn on, which is a bit of a chore because the dial does tend to be really hard to move. Twisting the dial all the way up did not max the pattern either. I moved back the dial just a tiny bit and then it went to full speed. The vibrations themselves are not really that powerful, and are located towards the tip of the vibe. The noise really isn't that bad, but that is due to the low power this toy has. It is waterproof though, so no complaints there. Running on one AA battery makes this little guy a battery guzzler too.

Care and Maintenance

Plastic toys are easy to clean with some antibacterial soap and some warm water. As for lube, any oil, water, or silicone based lube is just fine. The small compact box makes it great for storage too.

	Hardware (verified) I always clean my toys very well after use, even with toy covers. As for a battery, i would say it varies on how strong you use the vibrations on. I used it for about an hour and it was dying, but not dead. single battery vibes tend to do that when i use it for a bit. :/	12/06/2011
