Over the Moon for the Moon Plug

The Moon Plug with T Handle is an excellent addition to the toy box of anyone into larger plugs. Its two inch diameter provides a delicious amount of stretch, while the handle eases thrusting. Though it's hard and unforgiving, it is rather comfortable once inserted. It can be used vaginally or anally, and lends itself well to both. And anyone can use it. I'd just caution beginners to work their way up to this one. It is rather large.

Use

The Moon Plug's main purpose, due to its unique design, seems to be thrusting. It's a bit girthier than most plugs I've owned, so I'd say it also lends itself well to anal stretching. However, it can be used for vaginal penetration and g-spot stimulation as well.

Use it solo, or invite your partner to play along. It doesn't take up much space, so take it on the road. Bring it to a play party, or just use it at home.

This toy, because of its size, is more suited to those experienced in anal play. However, a beginner might be okay with proper warm-up and lots of lube. Just be careful to remain relaxed and be patient.

Material / Texture

This toy is made of clear Pyrex glass. It's hard and unforgiving. It's slick and smooth, which saves quite a bit on lube. It's hypoallergenic and nonporous, which makes it safe for just about anyone and shareable between partners and orifices. There's no flavor or smell, and it retains neither. It won't stain. And it's virtually unbreakable and shatter-resistant, which makes it great for temperature play.

If you prefer a realistic feel to your toy, glass probably isn't the material for you. Remember that glass has no give, so it often feels larger than a squishy toy of the same size. Beginners to glass will probably want to start with something either the same size as their largest squishy toy, or slightly smaller, to get used to the feel.

    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The Moon Plug's design is rather unique.

It has a large, bulbous head shaped sort of like spade. At its widest point, the head is two inches in diameter, giving it a circumference of six and three-quarters inches.

The head slims down to a thin, neck-like shaft of about half an inch, then flares out again to three-quarters of an inch. Finally it slims to half an inch again before you get to the two and a half inch wide, T-like handle.

The entire toy is six inches long with an insertable length of about five and a half inches.

I dare say, this toy is not for beginners.

The handle of this toy makes it great for thrusting, in both solo and partner play, regardless of which orifice you choose to use it in. Wrapping your fingers around the T at the end prevents slipping, and anyone will tell you slipping is a pain in the ass. (Har, har.)

I'm kinda paranoid, though. (Ya don't say, Rayne.) Shaddup. While in theory, this design looks like it would be extremely comfortable for extended wear, in practice, I'm worried about sitting on it wrong and the shaft snapping in half. Probably that will never happen. It's solid Pyrex, and Pyrex is pretty strong stuff. But don't say I didn't warn you!

Performance

Inserting this toy might prove difficult for some. Being the first toy I've used that is this large, it took me a good fifteen minutes or more to work it in beyond the widest point. But once you're passed that point, it's smooth sailing all the way.

It does slide out a bit while in use anally, but not completely. The head keeps it inserted rather well.

I'm not sure exactly how long I've kept this toy in at any given time, but I can say that it's comfortable for a while. I eventually took it out because of my aforementioned paranoia, not because of any discomfort.

The T-like handle makes thrusting a breeze, while the firmness of the toy, and the bulbous head allow one to apply a bit more pressure to their various spots.

Probably it could stand to have a more gradual decline to the shaft to ease the transition. But over all, it seems to be a strong, well-made toy for anyone looking for a bit of a stretch.

Care and Maintenance

Glass is ridiculously easy to care for. Use any kind of lube your little heart desires. Bleach it. Boil it. Put it in the top shelf of your dishwasher. Wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol. Just wash it with antibacterial soap if you're not sharing between partners or orifices. But please, please, please make sure whatever you use is nonabrasive.

For temperature play, pop it in the refrigerator or run warm water over it, but while Pyrex is, technically, microwave safe, I wouldn't microwave or freeze this toy. The microwave may make it too hot and/or heat it unevenly, while freezing it could make it too cold. And though Pyrex is shatter-resistant, I'd avoid subjecting it to extreme temperature changes to protect its integrity.

Try not to bang this plug against other hard toys. Do your best not to drop it, and examine the toy before each use to make sure there are no cracks or chips.

As for storage, this plug comes with a ginormous black velvet cushioned bag that closes by way of drawstring. Easy-peasy. However, careful with the drawstring when closing the bag. Mine just broke.

Personal comments

I usually don't go into all that much detail when explaining how to use a toy. M bought butt plugs before he bought vibrators, so I'm a bit of a pro. But I have never owned a toy this large, and even I had to take a moment to remember what I practiced in the beginning. So this toy, I think, merits the extra detail. Feel free to disregard this if you're an old pro at anal play.

The first thing you want to remember when trying an anal toy this large for the first time is this:

There is no such thing as "too slow".

I suggest beginning with a smaller toy (or a really small one, then a larger one, etc.) for warm up. But don't just insert it and be done with it. Insert, rest, extract, rest, repeat. This will loosen the muscles a bit and relax you. Being relaxed is extremely important. You can seriously hurt yourself if you're all clenched up. Not to mention anal play is much less pleasurable if you're not relaxed.

Use lube. Lots. There is no such thing as too much lube in anal stretching, from where I sit. However, because the Moon Plug is glass, lube makes the handle really slippery, so I wrapped a paper towel around the handle to keep it from slipping out of my hand.

Relax. I know it's not easy. With all the warm up, inserting this plug might still be a little painful, and it's never easy to relax when something hurts. Even when you're a pain slut like me.

Now insert the toy. Breathe! If the pain becomes overwhelming, stop pushing. You can either hold it there until the pain subsides, or pull it out a little, rest, and try again. If you don't think you can take it all the first time, don't. Take as much as you can, then take it out, and try again later. But don't force it. Forcing it can cause anal tearing. I dunno about you, but I'll pass on explaining to a doc that my butt's sore because I was overzealous with a too-big plug.

I haven't found a painless way of extracting a toy this large. But it seems the same basic rules apply. Relax and go slow.
