Beautiful Buckles

These leather cuffs are perfect for us, and are a step up from the velcro style cuffs we've used in the past. While they're designed for wrists, I can use them for my ankles too if I use the very last hole in the buckle. I anticipate many years of fun using these!

Use

These cuffs are sturdy and comfortable, and are perfect for bondage play. While they are designed to be used as wrist cuffs, I can use them as ankle cuffs too if I expand them to the largest possible size (about 9" circumference measured around the inside with a tape measure.)

The Jaguar cuffs are appropriate for beginners and possibly also for more advanced users. They buckle securely, and are much harder to get out of than the velcro type cuffs we have used previously. These cuffs are not designed for suspension play, so don't try to dangle your loved one from the rafters using them.

I have tagged these as "heavy restraint," since "medium restraint" was not a choice. They are clearly strong and secure enough to qualify for more than "light restraint." If you've been using velcro cuffs and want something more secure, these would work nicely. The cuffs are designed to be used with small locks also, as the prong has a 1/4" small loop at the end, which is large enough for small to medium sized padlocks.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The Jaguar cuffs are made of leather with chromed metal fittings. The workmanship and material is excellent. The leather on our example seems to be high quality, with no noticeable blemishes. There is a slight leather odor, such as you would expect to find with a belt. I am sensitive to odors, but the odor of these cuffs is not objectionable to me.

There are two leather parts on each cuff: the outer leather band which forms the strap with the buckle etc. is 1" wide and 11 1/2" long. The leather band which makes the business part of the cuff is 2" wide and 9" long. The larger leather piece is actually double layered, each about half the thickness of the strap, securely stitched around the edges. The two leather parts are each about 1/8" thick in total, and are securely attached to each other with 7 metal rivets. Only the rivet nearest the buckle goes completely through, as the others end between the two parts of the larger leather piece. There is a small tag on the inside, attached to the rivet near the buckle. This tag could easily be cut off if you find it uncomfortable; we have not had a problem with it.

The strap has 6 rectangular holes in it, which are just over 3/8" long and a little under 3/4" inch apart center to center. The snugness of fit you get will depend on the exact circumference of your wrist; if your wrist size falls between 2 holes, it will be less snug than if you are a perfect fit. For us the holes are close enough together that the fit is snug enough to make the cuffs quite secure. I can use these are ankle cuffs too, if I use the very last hole in the strap to buckle them.

The D-ring on the buckle is securely attached with 4 rivets (two on each side). There is a slight ridge on the inside of the cuff on the side opposite the D-ring, but it is not noticeable for me and does not cause any discomfort.

Please note these cuffs are advertised as 12"; the ones we got are just over 11 1/2" not including the buckle. The distance from the prong to the last hole is 10", however the inside circumference when made as large as possible is less, only about 9" due to the width of the leather parts and the thickness of the buckle. If you want to use these as ankle cuffs, be sure to measure carefully. Better yet, order a pair to use as wrist cuffs first and try them (which is what we did). My ankle measured exactly 9" around, so if you're larger than that these might not work for you as ankle cuffs.

Care and Maintenance

Since they're made of leather, these cuffs are easy to take care of with reasonable use. They aren't very big, so they're easy to store. We just keep them in our toy box with our other toys.

Packaging

There was no packaging; they came shipped inside a cardboard box with packing material. There is a small label attached with a plastic loop that is easily cut off. There were no users instructions included, but you shouldn't need any to use these.

Follow-up commentary
We still use these fairly regularly, and liked them enough that we bought another pair as well. They are holding up well and do exactly what they are supposed to do.
