Buckle Up

If you're looking for a pair of reliable leather cuffs that will stand the tests of lots of wriggling and pulling, these are for you. If you're looking for heavy-duty suspension equipment or soft-and-fuzzy bondage gear, this is probably not going to meet your needs.

Use

Aslan Leather makes quality stuff, so I wasn't surprised when I opened my Black Jaguar cuffs and found the leather to be soft, the hardware shiny and solid, and the craftsmanship superb. These cuffs are definitely intended for heavier players (not in terms of weight, in terms of restraint)-- they mean business! They are also definitely wrist cuffs-- though some types of cuffs can be interchangeably used on wrists and ankles, these won't fit around most ankles. Since their clasps are structured so they can be locked on, they are definitely intended for people who are into more intense restraint. However, I would NOT recommend these as suspension points. Suspension cuffs are structured differently and are sold explicitly as such.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The design of the Jaguar cuffs is solid. They are built with both thick, perhaps latigo, leather for the buckling straps, and softer garment leather for the lining and the padded areas that enclose the wrist. The straps are fully adjustable, fitting all wrists I have yet tried them on. At 2 inches wide and 12 inches long, these guys are somewhat hefty, but don't feel bulky when they're worn (or pulled against). Their edges can dig slightly into the wrists if pulled against hard enough, but haven't cut off circulation or done anything besides caused some (provoked) discomfort for the wearer.

Performance

Though I have become really fond of my SuperCuffs (they're soft, neoprene, velcro, washable-- and vegan), I wanted something that was a little more serious, and figured that I'd rather buy from a trusted maker of leather goods (Aslan is a really queer-friendly company, too, fyi). I was surprised at the thickness of these cuffs (their padded ones must be enormous!), but also impressed at their strength. The nickel-plated D-rings on each cuff make perfect contact points for use with rope, snap hooks, etc. When tested, these cuffs stood up to the writhings and pullings of a very muscley dude-- I would trust them when tough restraints are the equipment for the job.
    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

These are made of leather, so proper leather care procedures should be followed. Leather should not be dunked in water and left to dry, though it can be wiped with a moist, soft cloth. It can be washed with leather soap and shined/conditioned with leather conditioner.

Packaging

The packaging for these was minimal; they came in a clear bag with a tag on them. The tag included some suggestions for care and other relevant info.
Follow-up commentary
These cuffs are slightly stiff at first, if you're a wiggler, you'll notice this right away. However, with time, these soften up a little. If they hurt your wrists, it might be helpful to scoot them down your arm just a touch.

Good luck, play safe, and have fun!

These hilariously, unexpectedly broke. Fortunately, I have leatherworker friends who can fix it! Still, a little sad!
