Could be fun

Published: July 3, 2009
useful review
Overall this is definitely a fun toy to play with. It's average as far as providing sexual pleasure goes, but I really think it shouldn't be used on its own. If you combine this toy with other bondage gear, I imagine it would be an entirely new and more pleasurable experience. That said, if you were to only tie up one little bit of you, this toy has you covered in all the ways you could want.
Pros:
Versatility, durability, strength, and more versatility.
Cons:
It's made of leather, and the single-size metal ring could be the wrong size.

Use

I, a beginner, have found that this product is great for beginners for many reasons. If you don't know how to use it (and it comes with no instructions, pictures, or any indicative material), and you're creative enough, there are multiple fun ways to use it. It's flexible and loose, and you can tie yourself up (or be tied up) in a multitude of different ways with the leather straps and lock. I expected one way to feel right, and everything else to seem wrong, but so far there are at least four ways to use it that all feel just as good, and even feel good in different ways. Based on that this toy is a very useful toy, compared to other toys that have one primary function; and are awkward when used in any other way.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The design is ambiguous, but like I've said before, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It is a metal ring, and that means one size attempts to fit all, but for me I've found it to be enough to keep an erection in check; without cutting the blood off to anything important.

The metal is smooth and solid, which makes for a nice restrictive feeling without anything digging in or being uncomfortable. The leather straps, on the other hand, can pinch skin pretty easily. It's soft leather so this isn't a painful experience, but certainly distracting. I happen to be masochistic along with being submissive, so this isn't a problem, but could be for those not into a little pain.

The leather is strong, and the clasp you slide the leather through holds it tight enough that you almost don't even need the lock. This does mean that the toy requires a bit more time to thread the leather strap through the clasp, when initially putting it on, but I feel the strength of the hold afterward easily makes up for initial effort.

The leather gives me mixed feelings. On one hand it is leather, which means it rubs off, doesn't always seem to cooperate, and is much more difficult to clean than most materials; but it does give me a sense of bondage that plastic and nylon toys just don't. The leather feels rough and strong, and able to restrain anything you wrap up in it; for me that extra feeling, whether warranted or not, is an excellent trait of the material.

Performance

Like I mentioned before, there are many different ways to use this toy. Therefore the performance of it would be based on what you're trying to do with it at any given time. That being said, I think I can safely say that this performs well for whatever use you give it. It's not a spectacular performance, and it's not something that makes me fall deeply in love with the toy, but it is always enjoyable.

The toy has the benefit of being at least partially adjustable, so you can use the toy with a varying degree of intensity based on how "in the mood" you are. I appreciate this feature over something like a butt plug, since you can range its use from an intense and restricting experience, to a low-key toy that's just there to give you a little sensual tug now and again.

Also as mentioned previously, the strap threads through the clasp tight enough that you almost don't need the lock. This means you can use the lock to attach yourself/the toy to other objects (chairs, articles of clothing, etc.), and the strap around the balls will still stay tight.

The toy also has a small extra metal hook, and two metal holes that you can either use with the lock to tighten the strap (depending how you use it), or to attach to other bondage devices. I can't yet speak from experience about the usefulness of these extra bits, but they do open up a lot of opportunity for this toy to be used alongside other bondage devices.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is leather, and therefore not the easiest to clean. Running it under soap and water will just give you a wet toy for a few hours, and wet leather is generally not a good thing. To really keep this toy clean you would need to scrub it down slightly damp, and ideally use leather cleaner and a leather finish. The leather is rough so cracking wouldn't be much of a problem, but it still isn't an easy task.

It comes with two keys and a little key ring, so if you lose one key you won't be forced to get out the heavy duty scissors (and this leather would require heavy duty scissors).

Packaging

The package arrived as the sex toy pictured, wrapped in a plastic bag, wrapped in bubble wrap. No box, instructions, or anything else. It felt more like receiving a gift from a kinky friend, who understands how to work with metal and leather, than like buying a sex toy. It doesn't really need anything other than itself, though.

So what size IS the ring? That is a crucial piece of information with a toy like this

I agree completely. Is the ring supposed to go behind the balls or just along the shaft? And what is the range on the diameter of the leather strap, and where does it get positioned best? Unfortunately Eden didn't provide any pictures where one can get a size comparison...

I would say (currently living in a cabin in the mountains, and subsequently without any measuring devices) that the ring is 1.5-2 inches in diameter, and definitely just supposed to go around the shaft. With my hands it traces my fingers in size and shape when making an "okay sign". The leather strap can go as big around as a typical 20 oz water/soda bottle (round-wise) and stay in the clasp, but can also be undone to wrap around the balls and shaft together. The ring is about the size of a large Gatorade bottle cap, and almost encompasses a Sobe bottle cap, for the closest comparison I can offer with things at hand.

2 inches in diameter can go behind the balls on many guys. I guess that does still leave the question of where the strap goes... but I'm sure people can use their imagination! Thanks for the measurements.

Any chance you have a measuring tape handy and are able to measure the ring for us since a few months time has passed?
