Lined classic blindfold - sex toy by Spartacus - review by That Guy

This blindfold works for sensory play, bondage, or even as a mask to help you nap under a bright light. It is definitely a beginner's toy, as it doesn't quite get the job done on blocking out light. I had hoped that the shape would me more effective at ensuring the wearer can't see anything, but my girlfriend and I could both see around the inside edges no matter how we positioned the mask. For the simple purpose of blocking out light during sex, one could just as effectively use a handkerchief. Still, the mask is more comfortable than a handkerchief, if your intent is to sleep with the mask on. I definitely would not recommend this for those with more experience in bondage, or more serious about sensory deprivation.

In my opinion, the most important part of the mask's design is its ability to actually block out light and limit the wearer's sense of sight. For my girlfriend and I, it didn't get the job done, and to that end I was a bit disappointed. That said, the material was soft to the touch and didn't irritate my skin, even through an entire night's sleep. My girlfriend has an incredibly large head, whereas I can comfortably share a cowboy hat with her 9 year old niece, and both of us were able to wear the blindfold securely. While at first I found the velcro a bit tacky, I did find that it stayed on securely during playtime, and again while I slept through the night. The rubber material didn't have a rubbery smell even out of the box, and was much softer than I expected.

Also, despite the blindfold's shortcomings as a sensory deprivation device, the I found the look of the mask very sexy. Naturally, I can't see what it looks like on me, but it has a very kinky sort of bondage spiderwoman look to it, which is a big turn on for me when my girlfriend wears it. Despite the sexy superhero look, the design appears to be functional for blocking out light, so you probably won't get any weird looks if you wear it during a nap on a plane. But then, even if you do, at least you probably won't see them.

As a wearer, I was a little disappointed with the lined classic blindfold's performance. My hope was that it would completely deprive me (and my girlfriend) of our sense of sight, and it failed in that respect. Even as a sleep aid, it didn't work very well, as it seemed to intensify the one sliver of light that slips past the mask on both sides.

On the other hand, it looks very sexy on her, and at least restricts the wearer's vision. One doesn't really want to open her eyes under the mask anyhow, so while some light will still be visible even with your eyes closed, it will get the job done in a dark room. Moreover, if it does happen to work on your face, the material itself is quite comfortable and fits just about anybody.

Thus far, I haven't had the opportunity to paint this mask white, as it were. There were no instructions for care and use included with the mask, so I'm not entirely sure how one should wash it. I myself have used water and a toy cleaner, which seems to work fine on the outside of the mask, but I'm wary of putting soap on something I wear on my eyes. My guess is that it would do fine in the washer, but I wouldn't throw it in with anything I cared about. Personally, I plan to stick with washing it by hand.

The mask came in a simple, transparent plastic wrapping. While the packaging was perfectly discreet and sufficient for keeping the mask intact and clean, I would have liked some care and use instructions, just in case I need to clean the mask. My intuition has served me well enough, but I expect that nearly all my playthings will get dirty at some point, and I'd hate to ruin them by accident.
