Blindfolds may be used for a variety of reasons. Sometimes a person sleeps better with total darkness and sometimes a person enjoys some bedroom excitement in the form of sensory deprivation. Regardless of whether you use blindfolds for better sleep or for something naughtier, they are meant to do two things: prevent the wearer from seeing and block out any light from their surroundings. The Lined Classic Blindfold is entirely effective at keeping the wearer from seeing and mostly, but not completely, successful at blocking out light.

The blindfold is made out of leather (which you can get a faint whiff of) and adjusts via Velcro on the ends of the straps. The entire blindfold is 27 inches long and the straps are 1 inch wide. The soft bit of Velcro is 5 inches long while the rough, catchy bit of Velcro is 2.5 inches long. The longest part of the eye cover is 3 inches while the nose bridge is 1.5 inches long.

As far as heads go, it should fit those as small as 19 inches around and as large as 26 inches around. The eye cover comes down to just below the cheekbones on my girlfriend's face, but this will vary with facial shape. When the blindfold is tightened, you can feel most of the pressure on your eyelids, but it is never uncomfortable or painful.

The blindfold has a matte leather look on the front with a soft, plushy fabric sewn on the inside. The two layers are securely sewn together, but you can separate them a bit above the seam. After over a year of moderate play, no stitching has come undone and the material has not been scratched or marred at all.

When adjusted to a snug setting, there is a little pressure on the eyes. If snugly secured to the face, this blindfold should block out all outside light. However, if you prefer to wear it any looser so that there isn't a slight pressure, you might get a few rays of light around the bridge of your nose. It will still block everything on the sides. My girlfriend has a straight slope nose (like the side of a triangle) and sees very little light when wearing the blindfold. I have a concave curve at the top of my nose and notice slightly more light than she does. Even though a few rays sometimes get in, neither of us were able to tell anything about our surroundings because of it. We essentially saw slightly illuminated nothingness. The blindfold is very easy to put on and take off, but it sometimes slips around with head thrashing. My girlfriend says resting it above a ponytail can help prevent this. The Velcro can catch on hair, but it's not painful at all.

I don't usually sleep with a blindfold, but I gave it a shot for the sake of this review. I did not mind having it on my face at all and it was very comfortable for my nap. I woke up with the blindfold still in place and found that it did a great job blocking out the afternoon sun. I think this has a discreet appearance as a sleeping mask.

I would recommend wiping this down with a mild soap if you feel the need to, but be careful since this comes in contact with the eyes. I wouldn't share this since the eyes can carry some nasty pathogens. For storage, I keep it in a cool, dark and dry place.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this blindfold. You really can't find too many adjustable blindfolds on here, and it's priced very fairly. You can't go wrong with the price, quality, and effectiveness combination.
