This set of handcuffs by Spartacus is a great beginner's set for anyone curious about bondage or domination. They are not a real set and feature safety settings so they are great for those who are a bit apprehensive. However, they are strong enough for some rougher play and will feel like the real deal. If you want them to hurt...they can.

This set of cuffs is made from plated nickle which is not the best long lasting material, but it is strong and durable for its purpose. The locking mechanism does work. They open either from a key or from a little level for safety on the side. When closed they can accommodate an average male's wrists. They can also be closed around pretty much any small wrist size. If you want to be more in control when you are handcuffed, you can set the cuff's lever away from the "stop" position. This allows for the cuffs to be opened and released by a small "trick" switch in the side. If you want them to function more like real handcuffs, you can move the lever into the "stop" position. This disables the "trick" switch and only allows the cuffs to be opened by using the key the cuffs came with. The company supplies an extra key, in case one gets lost, which is good for someone as forgetful as I am.

The cuffs do perform quite well despite their play design. They will hurt if you want to make them tight enough and they will cause wrist bruising etc., if you play rough. They can withstand a lot of tugging and pulling if necessary. They were easy to clasp shut and remove. It wasn't too difficult to remove them myself while on my wrists either. This could lend to a good solo session, if you like engaging in solo fantasy bondage.

This type of metal can be sanitized by simple water and soap washing or can be put in the dishwasher as well as boiled. They are made in China and so the quality could be questionable. I would suggest simple water and soap to sanitize. You could use a window cleaner to gain back a shiny luster.
