Pony Play: Hobbles
The Deluxe Pony Hobbles are a striking piece of training gear for ponies and their trainers. These hobbles are lined in thick, soft leather which prevents chaffing, making these ideal for long training sessions. Bright, shiny silver accents are highlighted against structured, black leather straps; these Deluxe Pony Hobbles from Sinvention are without question, beautiful.
Hobbles are used to prevent a pony from kicking or bolting from their trainer. These hobbles by Sinvention feature a 12" long swivel chain that is the same type used to restrain livestock. These will help to slow your pony down while still allowing them the ability to walk or hobble around (at a significantly decreased pace).
For particularly petite ponies, the chain can seem almost too long and will hinder your gait as it makes walking around fairly difficult, but do not worry, this is the point of hobbles! The chain is not all that heavy but it feels awkward as it dangles between your pasterns (ankles) and prevents you from being able to lift your knees in high steps. It also jingles quite loudly as you move which causes these hobbles to become a very noisy piece of gear.
While the chain is surprisingly light, the ankle restraints are surprisingly heavy. The ankle cuffs are made out of incredibly thick, heavy, structured leather. They're double padded and the interior leather is nice and soft, which eliminates the possibility of chaffing and helps to make them very comfortable for ponies that wear them for an extended period of time. They consist of two leather straps that are secured by tongue buckles that can be locked- (the tongue buckles are only compatible with miniature padlocks.) Each strap has five pre-cut holes and is 11" in length; unfortunately, ponies with ankles wider than 11" will not be able to get these to hobbles to fit.
The Deluxe Pony Hobbles also serve as heavy bicep or forearm cuffs (depending upon the size of your pony). To secure your pony's arms, simply place them behind their backs and strap the cuffs on. They work phenomenally well and the soft leather makes these a delight to wear for extended periods of time despite the bulk and weight of the restraints.
While listed as a Pony item, these are virtually "extreme" ankle restraints that have the ability to serve a multitude of purposes in many different faceted BDSM relationships.

Experience
Hobbling a pony can be an incredibly daunting task if both trainer and pony are unprepared. First and foremost, there is the prerequisite of building trust; you must lay the groundwork and focus on trust building exercises in your relationship before you move toward restraints. However, even for the most bonded couple, some ponies are reluctant to submit to hobbles as they can be overwhelming for particularly resistant or incorrigible young fowls.

Oh, how I love these!
I was inspired by my recent HNT (Half-Naked Thursday) photo to tell people more about these.
While the fact "pony" is in the name, these don't necessarily have to be used strictly for pony play. In fact, these work phenomenally well for BDSM enthusiasts. If you're into hardcore play or are looking for a way to secure your partner, these work well as they prevent much walking around- and with a rope, you can simply loop it through the chain-links and tie down your partner down to the bed or chair. These are perfect if you don't want them going anywhere!
They're also intimidating in the way they look. When my husband brings these out I know he means business, these are definitely serious and showcase the severity of every situation.
If you're looking for something new or for extreme restraints, these are perfect. Yes, they're pricey but they're worth it. They're made SO well, there's absolutely no way they're falling apart, and if you like to thrash violently, these will hold you down and keep you captive for years to come.
