Wrist bondage basics cuffs by Kinklab - review by VieuxCarre

I received these beautiful pink cuffs, made by KinkLab, from EdenFantasys, the sex shop I trust, for review and have finally gotten around to having enough experience with them to do so. I have to say that KinkLab has outdone themselves not only in making an efficient set of wrist cuffs for BDSM play with a partner, but for making them fashionable as well to wear out in public. Before you ask, yes, I have worn them in public once and I never got an ill word or comment thrown my way from the passersby.

These beautiful cuffs are crafted from leather that has been dyed pink. They are completely adjustable to fit a various range of wrist sizes, from small to large, comfortably. Each cuff has seven ovular shaped holes cut into the leather which allow for the metal ring attached to the opposite end of the cuffs to slip through easily for binding. There is a pointed strip of leather that is semi attached to each cuff. By semi attached, I mean that a portion is glued down and a portion is not. The portion that is not glued down serves the purpose of slipping through the metal ring to secure the cuff to yourself or your partner after you have adjusted the cuff to your comfort level. Simply slide the pointed piece of leather through the metal ring and, viola, you, or your partner, are ready for action.

The texture of the cuffs is not consistent. The bottom portion of the cuff that touches the skin once the cuff is secured is a bit rougher and not smooth as the top portion of the cuff is. By rough I mean that the leather has not been finished, though it is soft to the touch and does not irritate or chafe the skin during struggle in play. Whether you play extremely hard or extremely light, the leather of the cuffs is soft enough to not leave a burning sensation or irritation after a session is over. There is a downfall, though, to the leather being as soft as it is.

The fact that the leather is soft leaves room for stretching and adding more comfort to the wearer; however, if you prefer your cuffs to not lose their shape or firmness over time, these cuffs may not be a good addition to your toy bag. I found, personally, that when I pulled roughly with a free hand that the material gave a little more than I liked. I had to adjust the cuffs to a tighter setting for me to feel restricted and confined and I found this when I actually played with them during a session. My partner at the time and I had to constantly stop to readjust the cuffs to keep me from slipping out of them.

All of the hardware on the cuffs, i.e. metal rings and metal snaps, are secured tightly through the leather to ensure that they remain in place throughout the life of the cuffs. The metal rings and snaps have held up through rather rough play so, h0nestly, unless you play with the intention of ripping the hardware off of the cuffs, chances are they will not budge even in the slightest. The cuffs are easily connected together or to your place of choice by securing a "D" ring (that can be found at most hardware stores), rope, or any other item you use for connecting wrist cuffs during play. The ring is a bit small, though, so the larger the item you decided to connect the cuffs with, the higher the chance of it not fitting through the ring. I highly suggest thin "D" rings for connecting more so than rope.

Caring for the leather is easy by using leather cleaner. I do not recommend soap and water as that can distort and possibly ruin the leather.

If you are new to BDSM play, I highly recommend these cuffs to you. They are far from intimidating for the first time player and they are comfortable. If you are in the market for some cuffs that are fashionable that you can place on your partner, or wear yourself, these cuffs may be a great addition for your toy and accessory collection. If you are a rather experienced and hard BDSM player, you may want to consider other options for play because of the give these cuffs have. You may be disappointed in how well they do not hold up during a rough, extended scene. To each his own, though, and the choice is yours to make.

These wrist cuffs have withstood the tests of time and rough play. It was a pleasant surprise to have them not fall apart and shred during a rather intense play scene that I endured. They are now at the top of my toy bag for future scenes and play.
