Shut Up, Shut Up, Shut Up!

The Beginner Ball Gag is a comfortable gag that is great for people who may not like the feeling of a traditional gag, or might just want a smaller, or different shaped "ball." The straps are removable, and make both the straps and the "ball" easy to clean. The straps are also easy to put on and remove from ones head, as they connect with Velcro.

Use

There's something so sexy about tying your lover down, putting a ball gag in their mouth and having your way with them. The only problem? The boyfriend and I didn't have a ball gag. Sure we had a restraint system and other goodies, but nothing to do the job of a ball gag. Ok, that's a lie. A few times I had wrapped something like a tie around his mouth, or even stuffed an article of clothing into his mouth to muffle his screams, but theirs just nothing that compares to the silence and control a ball gag provides. So, it was time for the boyfriend and I to go shopping for a ball gag. The only problem was where to start.

I looked at traditional ball gags, but I heard that these can make your jaw hurt from forcing you to keep it open so wide. So, we decided that the Beginner Ball Gag by Tantus would be a better fit for us, as it looked to be a little more comfortable. I would suggest this for people who are looking for something more comfortable than the traditional, or for a beginner who doesn't know whether or not they like the feel of the gag in their mouth, or how they will react to it. This gag would also be ideal for a beginner, because it is a smaller size that fits comfortably into the mouth. A more advanced user may be more happy with a traditional ball gag, as the beginner ball gag allows some sound to be heard. Whereas the way a traditional gag sits in the mouth would allow less noise if none at all.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The colors of the "Beginner Ball Gag" are very striking. My boyfriend and I got the red and black one, and I have to say that the picture does not do it justice. The red of the "ball" is vibrant, and looks fantastic against the black straps.

The design makes this ball gag very comfortable, especially with the way that your teeth and lips can rest on the area behind the ball. The strap is also moderately comfortable, but if secured too tightly it can be slightly abrasive to the neck area.

I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the "ball" portion of the gag, it was made of that wonderful Tantus silicone, that we've all come to know and love. The "ball" is smooth with no detectable smell, or taste and feels nice to run your tongue against it's surface. No matter how hard or often I've sunk my teeth into either the base or the ball portion of the silicone, there is no visible damage or markings to the smooth texture. Talk about quality!

The strap is leather, smooth on one side, and rough on the other. It has Velcro on both ends of the straps for securing the gag to the wearers head. The gag fit well both on my, and my boyfriends head, and there is a good difference in sizes between us.

Performance

The Beginner Ball Gag met and exceeded our expectations for it. We were worried that with the term "beginner" in it's name it might be of a lesser quality, but this was definitely not the case. It kept the majority of noises quiet except for the occasional faint moan. The straps are removable, and the ball has an extended base, so it could even be used by itself.

Like most ball gags this one made me drool, since my mouth was wrapped around the ball, and therefore it was difficult to swallow. This is bound to happen though with any good gag, that is sufficiently preventing you from talking.

Care and Maintenance

Since the straps are easily removable, this ball gag is very easy to clean. Like all silicone, the ball portion of the gag can be boiled, sanitized, or even washed with soap and water. The leather straps can be wiped down with water and mild soap if needed.

Personal comments

The Beginner Ball Gag which my boyfriend and I received in the mail was defective. I am almost 95% positive after inspecting our gag, that it was just an error with our toy instead of with the line. On one of the snaps, the rivet that holds the snap in place was bent so it didn't do what it was intended to do. The side of the snap with the bent rivet ended up falling off, and neither my boyfriend or I could fix it. We easily remedied the situation by drilling a hole through the remaining side of the snap and attaching both sides of the snap with a zip tie. This worked out well for us, and didn't cause an issue, but it also limits the ease of cleaning the ball gag. When we want to wash the ball separately we have to cut the zip tie, and use another one once it's been cleaned. My boyfriend made the suggestion that we could even buy a collar and connect it to the ball, as it has a slit on either side where the straps are intended to go. I think that even though our snap broke, the ball gag is still worth the money, as it could easily be fixed, or replaced.

I didn't want to put this under the performance section or any other section, because I don't think it reflects the quality of the toy, but instead a defect with a specific ball gag.

About the defect, that most definitely was a defect. Personally, I would have sent it back. I've had such a problem like that with a harness I once bought (the rivet was actually missing).

I was all for sending it back, but the boyfriend is very much a mister-fix-it, so I just decided to let him have his way with it, and I have to admit he did a pretty good job fixing it! It's held out thus far, and we've used it quite a few times.

Just a heads up, Tantus is awesome for customer service, even after the fact of the purchase. You can always visit their main website and let them know what your problems are and I'm certain they would try to help in any way possible! They are a wonderful pro-consumer company.

I do recommend getting a replacement for this if you love it so much! Smile

  • Smaller Ball Gag
    • I love the shape of this gag, and I love that it's from Tantus, but I have a really small mouth so I can't really do anything with it in because I have to concentrate on my breathing (or else I start coughing - not good!).

      Am I the only one that would purchase a shorter/slimmer version, if one became available?
    • This is a pretty slim gag already, actually. It's one of the slimmer ones available. Most gags are usually 2" and up, and this one has a diameter of an inch and a half. Sometimes you can find gags with 1" balls, but it's usually a rare occurance. I do love this gag though; it's worked well for us.

      Yeah, I know it's small - my mouth is just smaller, as even my orthodontist liked to remind me! (LOL) I thought that perhaps it would work for me because it's slimmer than normal and wouldn't make my jaw hurt. My jaw was fine with it, but I just ended up choking instead. :(
