This toy was definitely designed
I feel kind of like I'm on some sort of losing streak, what with the
Star Shields, and now the
Spreader Bar.
I wanted to like this product, I really did. I was anxiously waiting for it, hoping I could get in some massive good use before my move. I've always wanted a
spreader bar, and considered building one, but then I discovered this one, and decided it was worth a try before I put on my carpenter outfit.
First of all, it was pretty flexible, given its purpose. I'm sorry, but things that are supposed to keep your legs spread wide? Yeah, they're not supposed to start to buckle under pressure. I have strong thighs, and when they want to close, they need something strong to hold them open, not just stiff leather. Also, the hooks didn't look to be attached very securely to the bar, which had me worried, but I figured it was worth a try anyway.
I put on some snazzy
red and black leather cuffs on my ankles (if nothing else, at least the black leather looks good with all my various
bondage gear), and finagled myself into an odd position, where I could snap myself into the hooks on the end. Unfortunately, my legs were not really spread apart very far, which was not a good situation. I either need them to be spread fairly far apart, or be completely closed (with a
Hitachi between them) in order to climax. This leg limbo was not going to work very well for me. Furthermore, the snap hooks on the end were designed to move a lot, so I could pretty much bring my legs to an almost closed position when I moved my ankles, completely defeating the purpose of this bar. I wanted my legs spread wide, so I couldn't close them, no matter how hard I tried. I wanted to be able to use this with a twisted Dom who wanted to give me no exit, no respite. Sadly, I didn't think this was the toy for it.
Nonetheless, I grabbed a vibe, place it properly, turned it on, and bound my hands. I was going to give this bar a thorough test, dubious as I was.
Ha. Within about 2 minutes, the cuff on my left ankle had popped off the hook. I wasn't even moving that much, just trying to get my legs open wider. I stopped, readjusted, and tried again. 30 seconds later, my right cuff popped off. After one or two more tries, I just gave up, and got myself off with my cuffs just chilling on my ankles.
However, I do think this spreader bar could be fun for people who aren't very movement oriented... or maybe I'll just hang it up on my wall and use it as a belt/scarf holder. I think that is a much better use for it.
I may do so :)
As you can tell from my review, i really loved it, its definitely worth the price! I hope you get it
oooh...no, I hadn't even thought about that. I'll wait till you review it, and then maybe I'll give it a go! Great suggestion!
Have you considered buying the new adjustable spreader bar by Kinklab that's on this site? I'll be getting it and reviewing it shortly! I can't wait!
Foxxy Kitty - I know, WTF? I mean, leather covering metal would have been fine. But yeah, in this case, leather is not what I needed!
Alpine - I'm sad. Really. I want a metal one. Badly. Or maybe I'll figure out how to make one. But I really don't suggest this one.
I'm sorry to hear that.
But thanks for the honest review. I definitely need something that would hold up under strong movements
What a strange spreader bar...made of leather instead of metal, steel, or chrome? That doesn't make sense!
I know; I was so excited about getting it! However, I think I'm going to try and make one instead :)
Wow. It's a shame this bar seems to poor quality.
