Blue jaguar wrist cuffs by ASLAN Leather - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

Okay, so anyone who knows anything about little Miss Debauchery's obsession with all things blue, and all things Aslan Leather knows why I had to pick these up as soon as I saw them. They're my fourth pair of Aslan cuffs, and I'd have to say that these are, for sure, my favorites.

Aslan Leather makes some of the best cuffs I've ever come across. They're comfortable, well-made, can fit a wide range of wrists, stylish, and they'll last you quite a while. The design of these cuffs as individual instead of attached means that you can use them for a wide variety of things. They're great when attached by a small hook, caribiner, or lock. You can attach them to longer restraint straps, the Under the Bed Restraint kit, hogtie straps, or just about anything with a hook. If you want light play, you can secure them together with a small piece of ribbon, a scarf, or a piece of rope so that they can be easily undone.

The cuffs also have a ring on the clasp that you can attach a mini lock through so that the wearer can't escape. How neat is that?
Because of the wide variety of uses, and the overall comfort without being too comfortable, these are great for players of all skill levels. They're easy to get on and off and can be removed quickly, but they do have the option of being heavier restraints. These cuffs, in particular, seem to have a little bit of a medical look to them with the white and light blue color, so they also make a great match for those who are into the whole medical thing.

Now, these can be used for suspension (as in attaching them to something hanging from the ceiling), but it's not a good idea to put a whole bunch of weight on them since they're really not designed for that.

To me, Aslan means quality, and I haven't had a single complaint with the durability of anything I own from them (collars, harnesses, ball gags, cuffs). These cuffs were built to last and should stay in wonderful condition for years.

These cuffs are made from a soft, but sturdy garment-quality leather. These are a bit more like the Black/Blue, Black/White cuffs I own. The Pink/White pair was a little stiffer than these. The cuffs are made up of two straps sewn together making them 1/4" thick. The larger strap is 2" wide, and is actually two pieces of leather sewn together with the "right side" facing out to make them more comfortable. The edges are tucked in and rounded which helps keep them comfortable and helps to avoid them leaving marks or digging into the skin during use.

The smaller strap which is about 1" is sewn on top of these. This strap secures the metal D-ring with the attached O-ring, and is where you'll find your buckle and adjustment holes. This strap is also a little thicker and sturdier than the rest of the leather and helps to keep the holes from stretching out during use. The Q-buckle (like one you'd find on a belt) is very sturdy and has never shown any wear and tear on any of my pairs of cuffs. At the end of the tongue of the clasp is a little loop that a small padlock can be inserted through if desired. The loop also aids in the removal of the cuffs because all you have to do is press it and it slips right through the hole.

The cuffs are said to fit any wrists between 6"-9". Mine are a little less than 6" around, and I can still get a pretty secure fit with these and I still have some room to make them smaller if needed. They even fit around my ankles which are just over 7" around. I'd give the actual measurement of these as 5 1/2"-9 1/2". There are six notches that are 1/2" long and 1/4" apart for easy adjusting. On any wrists that are less than 9" around, there will be some overlap of the larger strap on the inside of the cuff, but it's not in any way uncomfortable.

The color of these is gorgeous and I'm hoping to see if Eden decides to carry the matching collar because I have to have that, too. Where most things in the world of bondage are black and red, these truly stand out. It wasn't until I actually got them in that I realized that they had a true medical psych-ward appeal to them. Now, I'm huge for medical things, I love blue, and I'm a psych major. Needless to say, I was immediately in love with these, and that's why they're my favorite pair out of all the ones I own.

Once you go Aslan, you can't go back. Seriously, I have an addiction to everything they make because of how gorgeous it is, and because I know that they really do think everything thorough on their products.

These are really, really comfortable. If I could, I'd just wear them all the time as bracelets because they're not bulky and they don't chafe. If you wear them for a lon period of time, they may get a little sweat on them, but they don't really stick to the skin very badly. If you put them on a tad bit loose, it helps to alleviate this problem.

What I love about these cuffs is the amount of support they provide the wrists. With other cuffs like handcuffs, they can be a little uncomfortable when yanked on, or if tension is put on these. With these cuffs, however, you can put some weight and tension on them without them digging into your skin. You can do some pretty serious restraint with these and still be comfortable.

Because these are made of leather, they do require a small amount of TLC to keep them in like-new condition. To wash these when needed, use a slightly damp cloth and wipe them down, and then give them a pass with a dry cloth. If you need soap, make sure the soap you use is very, very mild and only use a little bit of it. If the cuffs become dry at all, you can apply a leather conditioner to keep them soft and supple.

Aslan suggests covering the metal hardware with clear nail polish to keep it from tarnishing. I've never had any isses with tarnishing out of any of my Aslan gear, and I've had some of it for over 6 months.

For storage, make sure you keep these out of heat and direct sunlight, as it may damage the leather.
