Kimono MicroThin 12 pack - male condom discontinued by Mayer Laboratories - review by Jul!a

Microthin condoms are the choice of many when it comes to enjoying protected sex and still being able to get the most "bang for your buck" so to speak.

This "regular" version of Kimono's MicroThin condom is average in almost every way, except for its thickness and length. These, and most other condoms, are going to be about 2.04" wide at the base and along the shaft and in the head. They aren't much longer than the average of 7.5", coming in at 7.6", but it might matter to some. Where most other condoms are about .0027" thick, these are listed as being only slightly thinner at .0021" thick.

Really long or thick guys should probably look for a different condom, but use your best judgment. If it feels tight or starts to leave a mark, take it off immediately and switch to something bigger.

I couldn't smell anything strong with these condoms. Even when putting them close to my nose, I still had a hard time noticing that distinctive "condom" smell. There also isn't much to the design either, aside from the thinner latex. Just a nice, smooth condom with a reservoir tip. The tip isn't any larger than others, and just like with any other condoms with a reservoir tip you should make sure to pinch the tip to remove air as you roll it on.

Near as I can tell, the lubricant on these condoms is water based. They aren't the most lubricated condoms on the market, but the lube provided is plenty adequate for most people. If you aren't feeling naturally lubricated enough, or if you want to use these anally, you should definitely add more lube. You can use anything that's water based or silicone based, but make sure you avoid oil based lubes as the oil base can degrade the latex and cause breakage, which kind of defeats the purpose of wearing the condom to begin with. You should also keep these and all other condoms in a cool dry place.

In my own experience with Kimono condoms they've all been pretty durable, and I've never had one break, even when tying it off after sex.

We've tried a lot of condoms since I last tried out the Kimono MicroThins. Last time we played with these we had the large version, and they fit him just fine and he loved them. We only recently got a chance to use the regular sized MicroThin condoms, and he didn't seem as thrilled with these. He and I still like them both, but at this point, these didn't feel like anything special to him. Which is really kind of sad, because I want to be able to rant and rave about these like everybody else does. I still really liked them. For me, he just kind of felt smoother than with bare skin. I could feel the condom if I concentrated on trying to feel it, but it wasn't distracting at all.

Maybe it's the difference in lube between this and the larger version, maybe it's just us being condom snobs, but either way I still think these are great condoms to try, and we'll buy more in the future to see if anything changes for us.
