Didn't Give Me a Love Boner

Because of the Love Bone's shortness, thinness, and practically nonexistent curve, I doubt that it could satisfy anyone but the newest of beginners to glass sex toys.

Too short, too thin, not curved enough, handle is hard to hang onto.

Use

The Love Bone is a pyrex glass dildo by SSA Glass. It's intended for vaginal use, and shouldn't be used for anal penetration because it lacks a flared base. It has a slight curve which seems to be intended to hit the G-spot (not very effectively, as I'll discuss later in the review).

Its sturdy base makes it easy to manipulate solo or for a partner; however, because it's glass, it's best for the receiving partner to communicate a lot with the giving partner to make sure that this hard dildo doesn't bang into anyone's cervix. (The Love Bone is pretty short, so this may not even be an issue for some people.)

Material / Texture

The Love Bone is made of Pyrex glass, one of my favorite materials for sex toys. I love it because it's very easy to care for, and also because it's hard, smooth, and light, unlike most other toy materials.

Glass responds very well to temperature. Soak your Love Bone in warm or cold water for a few minutes before use and it'll retain that temperature for at least another few minutes. If you're not a fan of the cold sensation but don't want to go to the trouble of warming up the dildo in water, you can always just sit on the toy or put it under your back while you get ready for your play session; your body will warm it up.

Glass has the advantage of having zero smell or taste. Its main disadvantage is that it's very hard and unforgiving, which can feel very nice but can also make injury easy to achieve. Be careful when thrusting with this toy and be aware of where your cervix is so you can avoid it.

The Love Bone has no texture at all on its shaft. It's smooth all the way, except for the base of the handle, where there is a small seam/depression where your fingers can go to make it easier to hold onto. This definitely isn't a toy for texture queens, but it might be a good choice for people who want to ease into glass toys with something small, plain, and unintimidating.

Design / Shape / Size

The Love Bone's design is kind of strange. It has a very slight curve, which seems to be intended to hit the G-spot but is way too subtle and high up to hit mine. I think you'd have to have a very deep and sensitive G-spot for this toy to do anything for you in that arena.

The toy's insertable length is listed as 3 3/4" on the EF product page, but because the transition from shaft to handle is so smooth and uninterrupted, you can actually insert the entire 5 1/2" length of the toy if you want to. Of course, it's more difficult to hang onto it and thrust with it if you do that, but it is possible.

I find that this toy can hit my A-spot (anterior fornix) in certain positions, such as when my knees are pulled up toward my chest. The insignificant curve which frustrates my G-spot is actually quite nice on my A-spot. But because the dildo has to be so deeply inserted in order to achieve this, it's really hard to thrust much when I use it this way. I wish the toy had more of a defined handle and/or was longer.

The Love Bone is very small for a dildo. EF's product page lists its diameter as 1 1/2", but I think it's more like 1 1/3". I generally prefer toys that are small-to-average, like the Tantus Acute, but the Love Bone just feels way too small for me. I think this is because it doesn't come into contact with my G-spot, so it doesn't feel satisfying in the way that the equally small Acute does.

Performance

The only real use I've gotten out of the Love Bone is as a warm-up dildo. Its shaft tapers from very small to a bit larger, so it works well for opening yourself up and getting ready for a larger toy. I also find its coolness soothing when I've been fucked roughly and my vag is sore or irritated.

Aside from that, I don't enjoy using this toy. Sure, glass feels great, but I have other glass toys that hit my G-spot (Amethyst) or provide some enjoyable texture (Icicles No. 2) - the Love Bone does neither. The only time I've enjoyed it for an entire session was when my vag was sore from some rough sex the night before, and wanted something to clench down on but didn't want to feel stretched or rubbed raw. The Love Bone satisfied me in that instance but in no others.

Mainly, I wish it was girthier, longer, had a more extreme curve, and had a larger handle. But I guess that would make it into a completely different toy, wouldn't it?

Care and Maintenance

Glass is super easy to care for. You can wash it with soap and water or wipe it with a toy wipe whenever it needs a basic cleaning. When you want a more in-depth cleaning to remove germs before sharing the toy or after using it anally (which I don't recommend), you can boil it for a few minutes or give it a rubdown with a 10% bleach solution.

SSA Glass toys all come with a red velvet-like storage bag. The material is pretty thin and not padded, so if you want extra protection for your glass toy, I recommend either upgrading to a thicker bag or hanging onto the bubble wrap that comes with the toy.

If you ever drop a glass toy, you should examine it for cracks and chips before using it again. Pyrex is fairly break-proof but there's still a risk, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Glass is compatible with any and all types of lubricant. It also has the advantage of not needing as much lube as other toys do, because it's so smooth and nonporous. I find a couple drops of silicone-based lube does the trick.
Follow-up commentary
This continues to be one of the most boring, unsatisfying toys I've ever used. If you're looking for a first glass toy, this MIGHT work, but there are others that are way better - for example, the Bent Graduate.
