What's In A Name?

A good representation of its name, but this toy just leaves anyone who uses it wanting more out of a sex toy. Save your money for something better.

Pros
As basic as basic can get. Solid, suction cup at the bottom.
Cons
Very, very boring. No ridges or veins whatsoever.

What's in a name? With this product: absolutely everything. What you see is what you get. The manufacturer could not have picked a better name, as this product is the absolute basic of basics. Were it harder and not a flesh color, it could be put on a pedestal and called modern art.

This rubber dildo is a good mid-size product, a good stepping stone from the Anal Starter to something with a bit more width and length to it. However if you already have a base plug or a slimmer dildo like the Anal Starter, you're going to want something a bit more technologically advanced than this product. You won't find any bells or whistles here.

Out of the box, it does have a rather powerful smell. It's not an unpleasant smell at all, but it does smell highly of baby powder or lotion. Since it's rubber, the smell should dissipate with a few sterilizations/cleanings.

At the base is a suction cup, enough to hold the toy in place when you start out but once you start bouncing on it, don't expect the suction cup to hold tightly enough to whatever you stick it to. The toy itself stands firm and rigid enough to hold its shape and not lean over by its own weight.

Once you get started with this toy, you'll find it's very plain. There are no ridges or bumps or anything besides the tip to excite whichever orifice you happen to be sticking it in. It feels more useful as a large plug. Unfortunately, there are better selections of plugs in that case, too. Thrusting results in really no pleasure, since again, there's nothing but a smooth shaft.

I think the Basix could have jumped up a couple notches on the pleasure scale with the addition of a very powerful vibrator at the base - it would be enough to set this over the top from "below average" to "good for the price" but without it, it just looks and feels very boring and plain. And in this size and shape, for bigger anal toys and moderate vaginal toys, there are so many more interesting dildos out there for the same price that offer so much more.
Follow-up commentary
When it comes to sex toys, you sometimes have to work your way up to the larger ones. While I initially thought this was a relatively boring toy, the Basix dong actually works well as a stepping stone to something wider. The toy does see more use now, since I first reviewed it, though the use is really only utilitarian. There are more toys out there that can give much more pleasure than this one.

It's held up well, though! With proper care, you won't have to worry about pits or damage to the material, and the smell is basically gone. It was one of the milder smelling toys to begin with.

While I didn't have a harness to try it in, this product may end up working well as a strap-on (giving it another use). However, the first review still stands: unless you're using this for "stretching" purposes, it's just rather boring to play with!
