Neither Sweet, Nor a Treat

The Sweet Treat was not as sweet as I'd hoped it would be. Weak, buzzy vibrations compared with poor construction leave everything to be desired. A decent toy for beginners, but definitely not worth the price.

Use

The Sweet Treat is a bullet-style vibe primarily meant for clitoral stimulation. It also offers some shallow vaginal penetration; the little handle on the bullet works really well for that. You can also brush it across the nipples for a nice, teasing sensation. It's perfect for traveling; stow it in your carry-on, purse, luggage or any other travel bag and you're set to go. The Sweet Treat can also be easily stored in dressers, nightstands, vanities, and toy chests. It can also be used for dorm/roommate living, provided you cover up the buzzy noise with background noise (a fan or TV works really well).

It is NOT , however, safe for anal use. It's far too small; it can easily get sucked in and stuck with the lack of a flared base. It's also most definitely NOT waterproof. Don't take it in the shower, tub, pool, or anywhere where it can come in contact with water. Also, be careful when cleaning the bullet portion of the toy.

I really recommend this toy for novices or for those with highly sensitive clits, since the vibrations are rather weak. Advanced users might be content to use the Sweet Treat as a teasing toy or while using a dildo for penetration. Even then, those with clits of steel, such as I, will probably not find the Sweet Treat very satisfying.

Material / Texture

The Sweet Treat is made from food-grade plastic. It's latex-free, phtalates-free, and hypoallergenic (good for those with sensitive skin or who have a lot of skin allergies). It's got a smooth texture that is non-irritating for the most part, except for the seam that runs through the middle of the bullet. The seam can be felt with the fingers at the tip of the bullet, and while I didn't find it bothersome, it may be irritating to some. It has no noticeable smell or taste.

Though the plastic is non-porous, the Sweet Treat cannot be sterilized. If you want to share it with someone else, use a condom, even though the shape of the bullet would make that slightly awkward.

Design / Shape / Size

The actual bullet part of the toy reminds me of a very thick club or baseball bat. The top is very thick, with a useful length of about 2.5 inches. The thick portion tapers down into a small, skinny handle-shape, which is really great for holding the bullet against the clit. The bullet is 4.5 inches in total length, with a circumference of 3.5 inches at its widest point. The bullet is not long enough for decent penetration, but could be used for shallow/teasing insertion. Do NOT use this anally, as it is too small and has no flared base!

I have included some useful size-comparison pictures. The first one is the actual bullet portion in my palm; the second compares the toy to a $20 bill, and the third a paperclip.

At the end of the bullet is a cord that links to the small control box. The cord is very thin, and is not incredibly long, though decent enough for solo play at two feet in length. The cord is pretty delicate. I would not pull on it for extraction, as it would probably break. If you want to insert it vaginally, pull it out by the handle-shaped portion of the bullet.

The control box is also small, about four inches long. It's the same color as the bullet (pink). There is a dial to control the speed and power of the vibrations. Above the dial is a small, red light that corresponds to the intensity. There's also a red light in the top of the bullet. I find that interesting, but can't really think of a reason for it. Maybe for masturbation or having sex in the dark?

The overall size of the Sweet Treat makes it perfect for traveling and small enough for discreet storage. The shape of the toy, however, is not discreet. If you have roommates and/or children, I wouldn't leaving this lying around in the open. Beginners will appreciate the small size, since it's not intimidating. Advanced users could also appreciate its small size, but not its weak vibrations.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The speed/intensity of the vibrations are controlled by a small, easy-to turn dial. Though I wish it were a bit harder to turn (it can turn on or switch speeds when I don't want it to), it's great for those with arthritis or limited strength/range of motion in the hands and fingers. The controls are very simple to use overall, a huge plus for those who want a toy without having to struggle to figure out how to use it.

The vibrations are more concentrated in the top-lit portion of the bullet, but they can also be felt throughout the entire thing. It's supposed to have increasing speeds, but I could only feel three: low, medium, and high. The vibrations on low can't be heard well, but on high, it's very, VERY buzzy and rather loud. I couldn't feel the lowest setting at all, and the highest setting was not strong enough to get me off. Very disappointing! I also found that my hands went numb from the vibrations in the bullet after a short time of use, about five minutes in.

The Sweet Treat takes two AA batteries. The batteries last a decent amount of time, but I would still remove them in between uses to maximize their life.

Care and Maintenance

The Sweet Treat is easy to care for. A wipe-down with an alcohol swab or toy/baby wipe such as the Eden toy and body wipes will be sufficient to rid it of sexual fluids. It can also be gently scrubbed with some mild soap and ran under a very small, warm stream of water. Take care when rinsing the bullet under water, because it is not waterproof at all. Don't get water near/on the cord or the control box. A wipe, however, is the best and safest way to clean it. You can wipe it dry with a soft lint-free cloth, or let it air dry.

If you find yourself needing lube, the Sweet Treat is compatible with all kinds. Just be sure to use a very small amount, and not get any near the base and cord.

After drying, you can store it back in its original packaging or anywhere that's cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight.

Packaging

Packaging is minimal. It comes in a small, clear box with white writing on the front: "Skelton Rotor." No idea what that's supposed to mean. "Skeleton" maybe? Below that is Japanese, and below the Japanese is Chinese. I don't know what it says in either foreign language, though.

The box can be used for storage, but it's not great as a gift box. It would make for a decent stocking stuffer. It's also recyclable.

    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

The Sweet Treat bullet was not the bullet for me. It couldn't get me off AT ALL the first two times I used it. I've NEVER had a toy that performed so poorly, at least until now. A real let down; I was so excited to try this. Oh well. At least I got it as a free gift, so I didn't waste any of my hard-earned cash on it.

I'd also like to mention that this toy looks and feels "cheap", especially the plastic battery cover. It nearly fell off the back of the control box, and I had to be extremely gentle with it, lest I accidentally snapped it off. One would think it would be crafted a bit more durably, but no such luck.

Experience

I'll be quite frank: I was VERY disappointed with the Sweet Treat bullet. The vibrations were just not strong enough to give me an orgasm. The first time I used it, I just used it for clit stimulation. It was decent enough to tease me and leaving me wanting more on the strongest setting, so I thought maybe using it in combination with vaginal stimulation would finally get me over the edge. So, I pulled out one of my trusty glass dildos and continued. Nope. Still not good enough. It left me whining in frustration. I tried for a bit longer, then tossed it aside for one of my stronger bullets and finished myself off.

I tried it again a couple more times later on, only to be met with similar results. The third time, I was finally able to orgasm, but the orgasm was so small and fleeting, I didn't even realize I'd had one at first. Definitely not the toy for me. As a free gift, I think it's a good toy, but I just cannot justify paying $11.99 for this. Such a shame. This one will be tossed to the bottom of my toy box, probably never to be used again.
Follow-up commentary
Ever since I wrote this review, I haven't touched this toy. It's sitting in the bottom of my toy box collecting dust. I really have no desire to use it again because I know how poorly it will perform for me. I'm about to throw it out so it doesn't continue taking up space.
