When I first opened the box containing the Ruby Pussy, I was a bit surprised. It was a bit larger than I thought, about the diameter of a beer can at its widest, and extremely floppy. It had a bit of an odor but not a chemical smell; it was vaguely reminiscent of strawberry.

I explored it with my finger. On the inside was an undulating series of jelly hoops, rather than just a straight and smooth shaft. That would be interesting, I thought. From the inside of the end of the toy, there were four things sort of just dangling there, kind of like the uvula at the back of your mouth. I really had no idea of their purpose, but hey, they can’t hurt, right?

One thing I definitely noticed was that there would be no way to effectively clean the toy. It is impossible to turn inside out without tearing, and due to the narrow opening and series of hoops inside, flushing it with water might just be counterproductive, as you wouldn’t be able to get much inside, and that which did get inside would be hard to get out, thus promoting mold or other nastiness. If you’re concerned about sanitary matters like I am, you’ll definitely want to use a condom. In addition, since the Senso material has a fair amount of tack to it, you’ll probably want a reasonable amount of lube.

Satisfied with my scouting expedition, I decided to really take it for a test run. I got myself fully aroused, slipped on a condom, and squeezed myself into the toy. Even with lube, I found that it took a fair amount of force from my hands to get in.

Once I got it on, the primary sensation I felt was a general squishiness; most of the details I had noted with my finger sort of dissolved into a vague blur. Maybe it would have been different without the condom, but if I was going to reuse the toy, I didn’t want to find out. The sensation wasn’t particularly interesting, sort of like how I would imagine a Ziploc bag full of pudding (or warm apple pie?) might feel like.

Because of the floppiness of the toy, I couldn’t really find a good way to wedge it in place, thus the only way to get motion was using my hand. It felt good, but it was hard to tell how much of that was due to the toy and how much was due to the pressure of my hand around it. I wouldn’t say it felt that much different from masturbation the old-fashioned way, which, unfortunately, doesn’t say much for the toy.

I hate to be a wet blanket on my first review, but I have to say that if a product doesn’t really improve on what you can already do yourself, it’s not really worth it. I feel that it could be a reasonably fun toy if you really feel the jelly texture on your skin, but thinking about the cleaning task that would require makes me shudder. I give the Ruby Pussy two stars.
