The Mammoth Book of Erotica by Carroll & Graff - review by phunkyphreak

This book is a collection of erotic short stories by some popular authors such as Anne Rice, Clive Barker, Leonard Cohen, and many others. This book is five hundred and seventy-two pages. I found that some of the stories are entertaining while others have unimaginative story lines. I love to read erotic fiction, and this is probably my least favorite one that I have. I like that it is lengthy and has many different authors and styles in it. I think that they could have created a little bit better smut to read. If you're looking for a book of just plain fucking stories, look again; this is definitely not my first choice. I did like the stories by Leonard Cohen and Anne Rice, but that is mainly because I like their writing styles. I love Anne Rice's trilogy of Sleeping Beauty. Those books are good domination and submission reads.

I find that a lot of the stories lack the descriptiveness that puts you in the stories, wanting more. I would recommend Best Sex Writing 2010 or Sweet Life, which are both geared more towards couples. Those would be more like my first choice than choosing to re-read this book. I'm not saying to not read this book. By all means, read it; then use it as a table evener for an uneven leg, as a door stop, or even as a decoy at work. I find that people tend to leave me alone if I read something like this at work in the break room (which, alone, is worth the price of the book).

This item did not really meet my expectations, but you never know until you buy it and try it. This will most likely be handed off to someone else and not added to my erotic collection.
