Honey Lemon Cough Drop? Nope, candle.
The Tranquility Beeswax Candle is nice, in moderation, and comes in a pretty tin. Scent-wise, if you like warm lemon with a slight decongestant quality, this is the scent for you.Published: June 29, 2009
Pros:
Pretty, natural.
Cons:
Uneven burning, strangely scented.
Straight out of the box, the tin looks really cute. It's a pretty decent size. Inside the candle is slightly smaller than the tin, so that the sides of the candle are separate from the tin. It's a little strange, but doesn't really do anything to change the burning or scent. The candle is made of natural beeswax, with essential oils. It certainly looks pretty.
I got the “Tranquility,” which is supposed to smell like lemongrass, cinnamon and rosemary. Unlit, it smells primarily like lemon, with menthol in it. I imagine it would be incredibly soothing, if you have a cold. Other than a very faint hint, I can't smell any cinnamon. Lighting the candle warms the scent a little but I imagine if there was a “Warm Lemon Vicks-vapor-rub” it would smell something like this. Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible, but I wouldn't want my whole house to smell like it.
The strength of the scent has pro's and con's too. After about half an hour of burning, it spreads fairly well through the room without being terribly strong; but it's a little smoky. The ambiance is nice as well, but after a few hours with the scent, a felt a headache coming on.
So, the scent isn't amazing, and to that I will add the way it burns. It is a very soft beeswax. So you expect it to melt rather quickly, but you sort of hope it will burn evenly, right? Well, the burning leaves something to be desired as well; as it burns, it puddles in the middle. It leaves the outer edges, and even towards the center (just beyond the wax puddle), untouched by the heat of the flame (which at least burns a 100% cotton, lead free wick).
But, it is pretty.

Follow-up commentary
1 month after original review
So I've been burning this candle every so often for about a month, it still smells like lemon cough drops, but I can kind of pick up a hint of cinnamon now. It's started to burn a little more evenly, although the heat doesn't quite reach the outer... eighth of an inch or so of the wax. It hasn't caved in, or presented a problem so far.
I've also discovered that, if you burn it - with another candle, like vanilla, or something herbal, the scents combine and the honey-lemon-cough-drop effect is somewhat softened. It is a nice candle, but the lemon scent would be better suited to a kitchen, or outside in the garden, than in a bedroom or living room. Unless lemon is your favorite.

What scent would you like for them to offer instead since the scent of this candle doesnt seem to be going over well with others?
-
Not sure, perhaps something sweet like vanilla spice. Green apple? Rose? Anything but the one they offered? I am both allergic to and do not like Eucalyptus.

I stopped by our local sex shop recently and the whole place had the best vanilla smell. I was running all over sniffing like a dog trying to find out what it was. Finally asked & it turned out to be a massage candle. I usually have trouble finding candles that will actually scent a room, but that thing was powerful.
I think a mellow scent like vanilla or hazelnut has a much lower likelihood of bugging someone than a strongly herbal or floral scent. Personally, I can deal with herbal, but florals drive me crazy. I know others that are opposite. So, something semi-neutral like vanilla has my vote.

Thank you for viewing Beeswax aromatherapy candle in tin review page!

*Lol* The tin would be really great for travel. Thanks for the review!
her.royal.redness, yes I agree the tin would be great for travel, also, it doesn't get too hot to pick up when lit, which may be the reason for the slight wax seperation from it, lol
Sounds like these candles just aren't the best for scent.
Great review!

The tin is cute, though.

Thank you for your review - I'm not sure I want a coughdrop scented bedroom, but I do like the tin. Hrm, decisions.
