Pure Power Oil

Pure Instinct is a nice oil based cologne, with a sweet smell, and some fairly high claims. Pure instinct is supposed to make you a sex magnate, but besides the pleasant fragrance, I have noticed very little else. This is one fragrance that should be lightly worn for it has a tendency to have a overwhelming effect (plug your nose) if applied to heavy.

Pros
Nice sweet scent, unisex, and a single bottle can last a very long time.

Some may find this to be too powerful and there is not an ingredient list.

Use

Pure Instinct is an oil based cologne that is considered unisex. Being unisex, this cologne can be worn by both male and females. The .5FL OZ bottle has a black that lid screws off and has an attached "dipper". You take the tipper and dip it into the bottle and then take the dipper and apply it to the desired body part (in my case, my chest and neck was used.

The bottle even suggests you can add to bath water. It did not say why you could but I am assuming that due to its oil properties it may help slightly with dry skin, along with the pretty fragrance that comes with the oil.

You can apply this basically anywhere (except eyes, mouth and I would avoid any other orifices). Personally I apply this cologne to the chest and neck area.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Pure instinct is an oil based cologne. Oil based colognes are preferred by some people with dry skin and find that alcohol based colognes complicate this matter. By accident I spilled a large amount of this onto a desk and found that it is indeed very thick (It will stain). I never had any problems with this staining my clothes, but I never applied it to thickly.

Ingredients:

Sadly I can give you no ingredients, I would love to, however there is no information available that lists them.

The bottle merely states "Contains: A generous blend of pheromones and essential oils"
    • Oily
    • Thick

Taste / Aroma

Please do not taste this, it is not meant for human consumption.

I felt the aroma to be very sweet, almost flowerily, and a bit fruity (as in oranges, pears, and other fruits). It is not, to me, a sickly scent. If over used I believe it could be quite over powering, but this is the case with a lot of colognes.

There are reports that this smells different on other people, I have tried it on at least three others. Personally I can tell no difference.
    • Smells good
    • Strong smell

Performance

I strongly recommend to anyone using this cologne to go light when applying it. The scent is very strong, and you do not need to pour a third of the bottle on yourself. If you do, I can bet that you will be heading for a shower. If you do happen to use a ton of this you may be turning peoples heads just like the bottle hints at, but for all the wrong reasons. I used three "dips" of the stuff and applied onto my chest and neck. I prefer my cologne to be subtle at best, I do not wish for people to smell me from 6-10 feet out.

Now once this stuff is applied, I found it last a decent while (but not too long), I would estimate anywhere in between the 3 hour to 5 hour range. The scent remains consistent and (to me) sweet throughout the time it is in use.

Now how does this work at attracting the opposite sex? Well I can tell you I did not notice any change in the reactions of the opposite sex. Does this mean it doesn't work? No, it just means that I did not (to my knowledge) work for me. Please read my personal comments sections on how I feel about pheromones.

Packaging

When I received my package (I bought the 2 pack), I received two individually sealed (with plastic) bottles wrapped in bubble wrap. I did not even receive a box (that however was a different vendor and maybe different vendor to vendor.

The bottle is dark blue with white text, which makes it easy to read.

However I did look up the packaging on another site and found an image. It is simple and small bright blue box with white to light writing.

On the bottle the text reads on the front (presumably since it is cylindrical): Pure instinct.

Also on the front in the same color as the font is a heart, and underneath this is the words "Sex attractant cologne". Finally underneath that in small lettering it says ".4 FL. OZ. /15 ml."

On the back (presumably) the text is as follows:

"Pure instinct is a gender friendly fragrance, formulated to stimulate sexual appeal. Many benefits have been noted:

[] Elevates confidence
[] Enhances moods
[] Awakes the senses

Wear daily as you would any fragrance. For a special treat, add to bath water.

Contains: A generous blend of pheromones and essential oils

Jelique Products Inc Odessa, FL 33556"

Overall I find the blue/purple bottle with white text to be quite stimulating and attractive to the eye. It’s a simple design but it works. The lack of information concerns be however, and I did not care for the lack of ingredient information.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Travel friendly

Personal comments

The jury is still out when it comes to pheromones, when it comes to the scientific community there is a healthy debate whether pheromones even exist. I have read plenty of interesting studies that have claimed that human pheromones colognes work. I have even seen it demonstrated however there are very few well controlled scientific studies on human pheromones.

What is used in these colognes Androstadienone (also known as androsta-4,16,-dien-3-one), which is believed to have pheromone-like attributes. This is commonly used in a lot of pheromone colognes and body washes.

Do they exist? I do not know, and I am not a scientist. I do not suggest anyone buy cologne souly on pheromones, but rather the scent and how it appeals to you.

I suggest you do some research on pheromones if you are considering purchasing an expensive bottle of pheromone cologne.

Experience

Laying all the claims of pheromones aside I found this cologne to have a nice sweet scent that is a nice addition to my cologne collection (its not a huge collection). I will not wear this every day, to every occasion, but rather more sporadic. I prefer other scents but, as a change, and something new I would use this sporadically.

Overall I would give this a very solid three stars out of five stars. It is a nice scent, but I have smelled better.
