Illume has created a delightful set of four candles that are perfect for adding a little romance to your night. They are wonderfully scented, come in a sexy glass votive, and last a very long time. With these candles you get a touch of sensuality, and a lot of value for such a high end product.

Each candle is about two inches tall and the top is one and a half inches wide. Nearly the entire glass is filled with the candle. The votive is about the size of a shot glass, and when the candle is gone it can be used as one. The exterior of the glass container is a deep red that produces a sultry glow when the candle is lit.

The scent of the candle is supposed to be a combination of musk and vanilla, which is where his and hers comes from. All four candles are the same scent. When you are very close to the candle, the scent is extremely attractive. It is immensely concentrated, and the aroma comes from the use of essential oils. They smell just as good if they are not lit. Musk is the primary scent, with only light vanilla under tones. It is most like a high quality men's cologne in its luscious aroma. With these candles being so small, the scent seems to stay very close to the candle. Even when they are burning, the scent only travels a foot or so around where the candle is located. If all four are used at one time, the scent does travel through out the room a little more.

Burn time on these candles is a lot longer than what is listed on the Illume site. They suggest a burn time of about five hours per candle. The candles will burn much longer than that. At five hours, there was still more than half the candle left, and after three uses of at least three hours each, there is more than an inch of candle remaining in each votive. The burn time if all four are used separately is at least 40 hours total, or 10 hours per candle. During burning the top of the glass can become very hot, so move them with caution when they are lit.

The wax gets very hot, and could possibly burn the skin if it is applied to it, on purpose or accidentally. If the was gets on the skin, it leaves a long lasting, enticing scent, though it is not recommended to intentionally apply hot wax to the skin with these candles. They are not massage candles and should not be used as such. The wax does dry quickly, and can damage furniture or fabric in the event of a spill. Illume only uses lead free, paper and cotton wicks which are much safer, and provide a very clean burn. The content of the wax is a natural combination of soy, beeswax, and palm.
