Subtly Spicy and Warm
Warm, relaxing scent of vanilla, nutmeg and ylang ylang, smells great and enhances sexual pleasure. Wish that the scent was much stronger, hope that a new candle is more satisfying and effective.Published: March 10, 2009
Pros:
Pleasant scent, aphrodisiac effects.
Cons:
Weak scent.
When I opened the box, I was immediately aware of the the candle's scent. A warm wave of spices, vanilla and ylang wafted up toward my nose. I was excited because I loved the scent. When I lifted the candle out of the paper surrounding it, I was somewhat disappointed to notice a gray film of dust on the candle's surface. This candle has been sitting around for a while, I thought to myself. I wiped the dust off with a damp microfiber cloth and read the instructions on the sticker on the candle's base. No surprises here: trim wick to 1/4", burn for 1 hour per inch of diameter to avoid tunneling. Ok, I can do that, I thought. I did, and trimmed the wick and lit the candle.
The candle's fragrance is inviting: warm and spicy with hints of ylang. The vanilla and nutmeg are the most prominent scents. Overall, it's a pleasant smell, but it relaxed me so much that I fell asleep early without testing its aphrodisiac power. The third time that I burned this candle, I did notice its aphrodisiac effects. Though I like the candle's scent very much and found that it does enhance sexual pleasure, I wish that its scent was much stronger. Maybe I just received an older candle that was exposed to the air, and lost some of its potency. I would feel ripped off if I had purchased it for that reason.
I burned this candle for four solid hours at a time and could barely smell it. When I left the room and came back in, I did notice it's scent more, but not enough to satisfy me. While I did notice its relaxing and aphrodisiac effects, I was disappointed by the insufficient strength of the candle's scent. I strongly suspect that this particular candle was exposed to air for quite some time and the volatile essential oils have evaporated to some degree. That would also explain the film of gray dust on the outside of my lovely warm beige candle. I would have liked to review a new candle so that I could give this product another star.

I've always been rather skeptical about products claiming to be aphrodisiacs myself. I think it has a lot to do with the placebo effect. Were there any ingredients in this candle that contributed to it's claims to enhance sexual pleasure?
Wow! That's a bit expensive for a weak smelling candle. Usually the scented candles I recieve are wrapped in a shrink wrap to help hold in the scent. I guess this wasn't the case with this one? Thanks for the review!
@Machina Actually, the candle that I ordered is called Well-Being and it contains vanilla, cedarwood, nutmeg and lavender. I do find that I respond to the aphrodisiac effects of vanilla, nutmeg and lavender in other products and cedarwood does relax me. It does foster a feeling of well-being.
#Oggins Yes, I would have expected a stronger scent and a more pronounced effect for $26 + shipping. It was placed in the box with folded paper to cushion it, but there was no plastic or paper covering.
Wow. I do love canilla and nutmeg too. Usually those scents in candles are very strong. Nice honest review.
Shoot vanilla.
@ Cinnamon Chambers I thought that you meant canela. Yeah, the candle smelled the strongest when I opened the box. I should have saved the paper and used it in my drawers to scent clothing.
If I'm burning candles, I want to be able to smell it and enjoy it..I'm not hearing very good remarks about candles that are supposed to be aphrodisiacs. Sorry the smell wasn't stronger..
thanks for the review
@Mamastoys Me, too. I don't want to be distracted by the scent, though. This is a great smelling candle and effective, too. I think that I just happened to get an old one.
Great review!
Thanks!
