Premium price, not so premium performance
ID Velvet is a nice silicone lube. Not my favorite but a small drop goes a long way and it's slippery and slick without that gelatinous water based lube feeling. Reapplication may be needed, however, since the slick "feeling" goes away, even though you're still covered in lube.Published: February 2, 2009
Pros:
Slick, velvety, fairly long lasting, a little goes a long way
Cons:
Screw off top is horrible, doesn't absorb into skin well
Experience
I found it odd that the ID Velvet lube was so very different than the Better Sex Essentials lube since the ingredients are so similar and yet they were miles apart in feel and clean up. Odd. Very odd.
Follow-up commentary
8 days after original review
After a couple weeks of using exclusively this lube (other than with Miss Jenna, who needed water based on her UR3) we've discovered that it's really quite terrific for hand jobs. Taylor doesn't need a lot of lube for a hand job so the fact that it begins to feel less slippery after a while doesn't bother him - especially since, though it feels less slippery, there's still actually plenty of lube on his dick.
I"m getting more used to it during sex, too.
I guess it's the type of product that grows on you. Still not my first choice but I'm not going to put my nose in the air and ignore it, either.
Final note... It also works TERRIFIC as a hair serum. A tiny drop rubbed between my palms and then thru my hair makes it shiny and heavenly soft! Way better than drugstore hair serums that are cut with all sorts of alcohol and filler oils mixed with silicone to save money since silicone is costly.

Thank you for viewing ID velvet – lubricant review page!

You bring up an interesting point with silicone ingredients. BSE has Cyclomethicone first followed by dimethiconol and Cyclopentasiloxane where ID Velvet is Dimethicone first followed by Dimethiconol and Cyclomethicone. This variation in ingredients can make a large difference in how the lubes feel. Dimethicone is a thicker and more expensive ingredient and many would say it has a more velvety feel, but the BSE lube doesn't have that at all. I guess that means you perfer more Cyclomethicone in your silicone lube. Another one you might want to check out some time is ID Millenium since it starts out with Cyclomethicone and then adds Dimethicone and Dimethiconol. Or just stick with BSE. It's weird that your bottle is not a flip top since it looks like the only one that isn't a flip top is the 0.5 oz bottle. Thanks for the review.
Yeah, the screw off top really threw me. I loathe them enough that, had I been able to tell from the pictures, I wouldn't have ordered it. Meh.
I guess I flubbed a little on the ingredients. That's what I get for changing bottles! I lost the ingredient list. Oy.
Thanks for the follow up - GREAT point about using it in your hair too
Thanks. We went out last weekend and my friends were like "oooh, your hair looks great!" They died laughing when I told them it was the lube.
WOW never thought about using this as a hair serum...my hair is a pain in the ass frizzy mess without products to soften and control it. Might have to get a small bottle of this to try.
GREAT REVIEW! I'd love to try it too. I hope it works for us, but I don't know. I should probably trust your word on it.
AWESOME REVIEW! THANKS!
