I love ID!

This lube is great for sex, solo use, and massage, but can be an issue with toys. It is smooth and velvety, and won't leave you sticky or whining about cold lube. It lasts a long time, both during use and the bottle. It is a bit pricy, but could be well worth it for you.

Use

This lube is great for all sorts of fun. It is good for solo use by a female or male, sex, or massage. However, since this is a silicone lube, it cannot be used with silicone toys. Also, the bottle warns that it may stain fabrics, I did not notice any staining, but be careful of your clothes, sheets, and furniture. This lube is well suited for use in the shower, because it does not wash away easily. It can make surfaces slippery though, so be careful.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

ID velvet is quite thin. Despite this, true to the name, it is very velvety. It is not sticky in the least bit, and doesn't feel greasy either. It is easy to pour, just take precaution because you barely have to squeeze the bottle to get some out, if at all. The bottle mentions that it is also a skin conditioner and moisturizer. If you use it for your skin, it will take a long time to absorb. It feels much nicer to apply than water based lube, it goes on smoothly and doesn't feel cold. I would say it feels similar to baby oil minus the greasy feeling.

Taste / Aroma

This lube is unscented. Although many "unscented" items still have a scent, this one says true to its word. It doesn't have a flavor, but there is something unpleasant about putting it in your mouth. It gives almost a numbing sensation. Personally I would avoid getting this in your mouth, there are better lubes suited to that.
    • No smell

Performance

I found that it lasted as long as I needed it to. You definitely have to wash it off, not just wipe or rinse it. Most of the toys I own are silicone, and therefore couldn't be used with this, but on the glass and plastic ones I tried it with, cleanup was no more difficult than with any other type of lube. If you use this for sex, you will most likely want to wash up afterwords. I found that not enough was absorbed to feel comfortable just leaving it there, but I feel the same with water based lubes. My least favorite part of this was the compatibility issue with silicone toys.
    • Feels natural
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water
    • Not compatible with all materials

Packaging

ID Velvet is packaged in a large bottle with a screw off cap. Although many others have complained about the cap, I like it quite a lot. I have had so many bottles of lube leak in the past, whether it be on the bed, in a suitcase or in a drawer. This contain does not leak! Yes it can be tricky to close after you have some on your hands, but I would rather have to clean the bottle off than clean up a spilled mess. The lube is dispensed by squeezing the bottle. Since generally you will only want a small amount of silicone lube, I found it is really sufficient just to hold the bottle upside down and not squeeze it. Instructions are included right on the bottle, along with some other information such as ingredients.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Travel friendly
