Velvety feel, stays slick longer than you’ll probably last, high quality ingredients, great price.
Poor bottle design, thinness makes it a little difficult to apply.

Silicone Lube – Awesome in the Shower!

Lubricant by Shunga Erotic Art

Published: August 16, 2008
extremely useful review
Toko Silicone Formula is an excellent silicone lubricant. It contains high quality ingredients. It stays slick for a long time and does not gum up as it dries. It can even be used for shaving or hair conditioning. It is great for most lube applications, but it may not be as suitable for anal sex as some other lubes because it isn’t all that thick. Be very careful around toys that contain any silicone though because it could react with the material.
Pros:
High quality silicone ingredients, stays slick, doesn’t gum up
Cons:
Maybe not as thick as some would like for anal sex
Rating by reviewer:
This toy was definitely designed
Toko Silicone Formula represented my first experience with silicone lubricants. From this standpoint, I have to say I really liked it. It represented such a departure from the water based lubes that I was used to that I was really amazed at its properties. My two main requirements are that my lube stay slick for a long time and that it not gum up when it dries. Toko Silicone Formula met both of those requirements very well. Not to mention it lasts much longer in water than water based lubes since those naturally wash off with water. For this reason, it became our “go to” lube for sex in the shower.

Since I had read that silicone lube had other uses, I wanted to try that out. I read that you can shave with it and use it to condition your hair. Well, my female partner and I have both shaved with it and it works well for that by helping the razor glide along your skin, but it doesn’t clean off the razor as well as I would like, so I don’t use it for that all the time. We have yet to try it out for hair conditioning, but maybe eventually.

As far as ingredients are concerned, Toko Silicone Formula only has three ingredients which are: dimethicone, dimethiconol, and cyclomethicone. These three ingredients in this order put it in with other silicone lubricants like Eros Light Love, Fun Factory Body Fluid, and Sliquid Silver. As far as silicone lubes are concerned, that seems like pretty good company to keep. This is not to say that all of these lubes are identical, but it means that they probably have similar properties to each other. Also, Toko Silicone Formula is less expensive per ounce than any of these others.

Before I end, I should say that one should be very cautious about getting this lube in contact with toys that contain any amount of silicone. Silicone lube can disintegrate silicone toys. I particularly find this to be true with TPR silicone which seems to react with almost any lube that isn’t water based. That being said, I have tested Toko Silicone Formula out on inconspicuous places on several of my 100% silicone toys without incident. I don’t make a habit out of using silicone based lube with silicone toys, just in case, but it seems like there might not be a problem with high quality toys. Silicone based lube is safe to use with latex condoms, so if you want to use it with your silicone toys, wrap them up with a latex condom and you should be good to go.
Experience
My partner and I really love to use this lube for sex in the shower. Sometimes I will slip a condom over one of my silicone toys if I want to play by myself in the shower as well. For a while we had left the bottle in the shower because we were using it to shave sometimes and it was just convenient. Well, as you know, I have little ones running around the house, and one time when they were showering one (or more) of them took the bottle and poured a lot of it on the floor of the shower and rubbed it around. That shower floor was so slick I almost fell down the next time I stepped in there. It didn’t wash off much over the next few days either. We had to get out the tub cleaner and a scrub brush to really get the lube off the floor. It was definitely entertaining taking a shower for those few days.

Hahahaha! That should teach you! It was so difficult to get off of the tub though, don't you think it would be as hard to rinse out of your hair if you used it as a conditioner? I don't know if I would try that or not.... Definitely let us know if you do and what happens! =)

You should really keep things like this away from kids....they may decide to take it out and put it on their slip n slide next, at least thats what my kids would do! Great review Jimbo!

Thanks for the warning about this possibly slicking up your shower as well as you! Great review, as always!

Thank you everyone for the compliments. It really was a funny shower experience. Now the slip-n-slide idea sounds pretty good if the silicone lube didn't cost so much...

Great review, I wonder if you could get in bulk for the slip-n-slide. It would make it interesting.

Hmmm, discount silicone lube if I buy it in bulk... That might just be a consideration if I was throwing a BIG party!

Oh, the joys of children ;) I thought shampoo on the shower floor was bad enough, but lube? :-O Nice that this lube really is pure silicone lube. As far as using silicone lube as hair conditioner, I have done this for flyaways. Granted I don't use much. I use the Eros Basic or Pink for this though (I don't have the Tokyo lube...yet). I just put a small amount in my hands, rub it allover the palms of my hands then run my hands over my hair (on dry hair, as a mid day touch up). I've found that it works better than my leave-in conditioners.

Anyways, great review as always Jimbo Jones (and thanks for the refreshing "experience")

Thanks Bulma for the compliment and also for providing perspective on using silicone lube as a hair conditioner. You liked Pink enough that I don't know that you'll have a place for Toko any time soon, but if you are interested in trying out ALL the silicone lubes out there, then Toko is definitely worth giving a shot.

Ha ha, I just saw that I called it Tokyo lube, lol Oops! I would like to try out all lubes (excluding many oil lubes) someday...someday since I don't have the money required to buy them all now or else I probably would. ;) This does sound like a great one to add to my collection though! As long as I can remember its Toko, NOT Tokyo! lol

I didn't even notice the misprint. It is fun trying out new lubes.
