Dress with gathered panels - dress discontinued by Coquette - review by sweetiejo

First ordering the Dress with Gathered Panels I thought that it would be a great dress for wearing out and about, mainly for going to bars or more sexy occasions. The dress arrives in a clear plastic bag with a soft, black hanger. On one side of the hanger is a small tack that is used to wrap the dress strap around, to prevent it from falling off the hanger.


The dress is made from 80% nylon and 20% spandex. This means that you should only hand wash, hang it up to dry, and avoid an iron. The front of the dress consists of a black sheer stretchy fabric down the front, with two scrunched panels of a shiny purple fabric. The bust is made of two slightly padded cups, with under wire. At the top of each cup is a scrunched black mesh fabric that can rub against the breast causing irritation. Below the bust is a thin strap of thicker velvety piece of fabric that has no give and can cause the inside seem to rub if you bought the dress small. Below this is another large piece of black lace. The back of the dress is made only of the black stretchy fabric of before. The straps are simple stretchy black straps similar to those found on a bra, they are adjustable.






The Black fabric of the dress has a lot of give to it, but it also becomes sheer very quickly. The panels of the dress that are purple have no give in the fabric and hug to the body tightly. If you have curves you would like to hide this dress is not for you. The design of the dress makes hips and other areas that are wider stand out greatly. The way it clings also accents these areas. The two gems at the very top of the dress look almost cheesy because of the large size, and due to them being plastic without metal accents. The contrast between the plain black fabric with the semi-shiny purple, makes the dress look similar to a Halloween costume. The cups give no support for the breast and doesn't fit right on top of them. It causes them to be unflattering and feel no support in the dress, I wouldn't recommend this for women with larger breasts. A female with smaller may fit well into this particular size. Based off of the sizing chart I would have liked a size medium for my breasts, and a less tight fit. At 5'2 in height the dress landed nicely a few inches above my knees, for taller women it may be to short for public wear without leggings.

Although this dress may be for some, but for my frame it fell flat. It is to tight in all the wrong areas. The ends of the dress have begun to come out of the seams. The more they come out the more holes actually form in the dress. The fabric is so thin that holes wear easily into the fabric. Overall the dress has had quite a few to many flaws for the price you pay.
