Sheer contrast red cuban heel stocking - stockings discontinued by Leg Avenue - review by ~LaUr3n~

I almost feel bad reviewing this because these awesome stockings are no longer available on Eden, not in this color combination anyways. This pair is designed with great accuracy to look like the stockings women lined up for and waited hours to buy in the 1940's and 50's. These are fully fashioned and are gorgeous! Authentically vintage! They will fit most women better than cheaper stockings because of their shape. I swear, stockings will never be the same to me. These don't fit me perfectly, but I'm going to find ones that do. I'll be going on a search in boutiques for more pairs of these wonder stockings!

*Overview:

This pair of stockings from Leg Avenue are a fine nylon. They come in red or black, this being the red version. They are also one size fits most and are pretty average in size and length. Their top band is sturdy and can be used wit garters while the reinforced toe, heel, and sole allow for their longevity. Don't forget the gorgeous backseam!

*Material Excellent, Soft

They feel great! They are made of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. Their composition and feel is something I have not felt since my last live dancer performance when I was required to wear stockings that were $18 dollars a pop! They are not as durable, but their soft feel and sheen is amazing. They are nicely stretchy. They really mold to the leg and don't lose their shape. The reinforced areas are excellent, too. The color looks strange when it comes out of the package. It sort of has a yellowish hue, but on the legs it looks a lot less obvious. If it weren't for the slight shine in certain light, these would look like nothing at all.

*Design/craftsmanship: Awesome

These stockings are FF which means they are fully fashioned. They are constructed and sewn laying down and completely flat. They are sewn up the back giving them their trade mark back seam. They also have distinctive parts. The shape pays attention to the feet ankle, calves, and thigh instead of just being like a large tube sock with no definition.

The band has two thickness and tones. The top part is thicker and has a few layers. It is about 1 3/4" tall and then the thinner part below is about 1 1/4" tall. The back seam is actually on the inside. They look normal in size, about 1/16" thick.

The feet are VERY well constructed and have multiple parts. The closed toe portion is the same thickness as the lower part of the red band at the top of the thigh. It is 1 1/2" long which will be invisible once slipped into most heels. The bottom of the feet are also reinforced and go up past the thigh in one piece of very reinforced nylon. It's wonderful!


Here you can see the step pattern of the stockings. They do have the French heel, not the Cuban heel as described. Cuban actually has a box cut, not a point. This version of the French heel is also called Pointe heel because it is even further extended up the leg.

*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash, box

The package says to hand wash these in warm water. Dry dry and do not iron. I would definitely take good care of them because the nylon is VERY delicate. Making sure your nails don't have snaggle is a good idea. While runs are not very obvious with these, it's still a good idea to keep them safe.

They are made in Taiwan.

*Sizing/Application: Pretty good

These stockings are "one size fits most" like most Leg Avenue stockings. While searching the internet for additional information, I did find a woman with a generous figure wearing these stockings. So while they won't work as well, these can be worn by larger sizes as well. They are recommended for 90-160 pounds. I'm 5'6", ~142 pounds and my thighs are about 22.5" at the thickest part around. The length is good and fall where I want them to on my thighs. I do find that they cut in a tad and so I have to wear them a little lower than usual. Best thigh circumference is no larger than 21.5". Even though these do cut in slightly, they are comfortable, and it doesn't bother me as much. Their fit is great! They really fit my size 8 feet well with no bunching and my ankles and calves are silhouetted. I love that you can really see the shape of the leg with no bunching or creases.



Putting these on was somewhat of a pain. It took a few minutes to really line up the red backseams correctly.

*Conclusion:

I am giving these 5 stars! They might be a bit more delicate than most, but their leg shape and design is great. I love how authentically vintage they are. I love that they fit like a glove. Plus, if you are plus sized, you might be able to wear these if you use a garter belt to prevent them from rolling.

I LOVE my "cuban" heel stockings! Still sad that they are discontinued, I am taking really good care of these. I've worn them a few times and even got compliments from my mother on them. I paired them with a tweed skirt that had red running though it. Perfect! I totally still plan on getting the black version while I can and will purchase similar pairs after that. I love the design.
