White long gown - maxi dress discontinued by Espiral - review by js250

The dress arrives in a clear plastic bag that has a cardboard fold over showing the model in the dress and both color options. The dress is available in black and white. I chose the white one since it had my size available. The packaging is not very appropriate for storing your dress when you are not wearing it. I would suggest using a padded hanger and hanging it up in your closet.

One of the first things I noticed after removing it from the packaging was the fake jewel detailing on the halter straps. These look very cheap and fragile. There is a series of 3 metal squares with a silver glittery filler inside the bevel. They are held together in a chain by thin round, metal necklace links. If you tied the halter too tight, washed the dress in a washer or have large, bouncy breasts, they might pull the links causing them to open and break. Caution and delicate handling is definitely in order for your dresses protection!

The bust area is definitely free of any support, they are two sewed on triangles that are held up by the halter ties. If you decide to wear this out in public, make sure you have pasties on and also a half slip would be a great idea. The material is see through and will allow your nipples, butt and belly button to show through the material. It is not meant to be that translucent, but being white Polyester, that is the nature of the material.

There are two ties on the dress. One is the halter tie, meant to add adjustment for the breast area, and the other goes around the back, where your bra band normally lies. For more support on the top, I tied the halter top tie to the area where the band tie attached to the dress. This did add a bit more stability to the breast area and kept my breasts from falling out whenever I bent over. The band ties were still tied together in the back as designed. This also helps reduce stress on your neck from your breast weight.

The material is a thin, 93% Polyester & 7% Elastic blend. This allows the material to hug your curves and makes it very form fitting. There is a bit of stretch to the material, but with every bit of stretch it also gets a bit more transparent. This dress will show any flaws in the stomach and love handle area. If you pull the dress up at the waist and let it 'wrinkle' along your waist to lower belly, this will hide some of the flaws. It also makes the dress shorter to accommodate those of us that are height challenged. This definitely helped change the fit of the dress to a more flattering look.

The ruffle starts halfway up the leg and wraps diagonally to make a flattering split that will showcase your lower legs. My husband let me know I looked taller and the cut made me look like I had longer legs. At 5' 2", this was a very good compliment!!

The material is soft and comfortable, there is no itchiness or scratchiness. It does not breathe as well as other, lighter materials, and you may get a bit overheated and sweaty where the dress is tighter on your body.

I hand wash the dress in warm, soapy water and rinse it well. I use the Dona Lingerie wash and bleach is not recommended. Air drying is in accordance to the manufacturer's care since heat from the dryer can mar the material. I wrap a piece of an old nylon leg around the fake jewel details to keep them safe during washing.

I ordered the XL due to my bust size and it was a perfect fit--other than the lack of bust support.

I am liking this gown more for my own personal use at home. I do wish it was less see through, there was an anniversary party for family friends that this would have been perfect to wear for, but not with it being this see through.

I ended up wearing my Monique corset with a broomstick skirt. Wishing I was able to wear this comfy and sexy dress that would have been so sexy with my new heels. I do like teasing my husband by wearing this around the house in the evening, but what a waste of such a nice styled dress....
