Floral knit gown - gown discontinued by Fantasy Lingerie - review by Timaree

I'm one of the super exciting people who looks at lingerie largely from the perspective of utility. For what will this be useful? Would it make a good burlesque costume? Would it be good to wear while dancing? Would this be something that could be practical to have on under clothes during a date night?

So the first time I looked at this gown, I was fairly skeptical. It doesn't make sense to wear out on the town, it would be hard to find a whole lot of outfits under which it could be worn easily and the skirt length and width would pose many dance-related challenges. Getting it on with someone while wearing it would be possible, obviously, but you couldn't access huge swaths of skin without taking the whole thing off over your head... which is not always the sexiest way to remove an article.

Yet, despite all these apparent limitations, I loved this piece and ended up wearing it in public, under clothes and used it on stage in a burlesque piece. And it killed. With a truly flattering pattern overlaying your entire form, it's kind of like being gently photoshopped in real life. And the bright red color draws every eye in the room.


It's also incredibly comfortable, made of soft knit fabric that feels lovely against the skin. Surprisingly, it's easy to remove too. One of my favorite facets of the piece are the adorable little openings for the thumbs. That's a garment feature that is sorely under-utilized in my opinion and highly underrated for both awesomeness and attractiveness.

If I absolutely had to make a complaint, it would be small and it would be two part. The packaging is not helpfully re-usable. Some of my favorite lingerie pieces arrive on hangers or in packaging that easily is stored in a drawer. But this piece arrives in a plastic bag inside a less-than sturdy cardboard package. And, on another note, this gown doesn't come with panties, although one might infer that from the image on the site. That's obviously not a significant issue- and easily rectified- but I wanted to make sure prospective buyers knew to find a sexy red thong to go with it.... or be ready to go without. That works too.

I really, really, really, really wish this was longer. The length is probably appropriate for someone who is about 5'1" or so, but for those of us who are 5'8" it's not ideal, especially in heels. There's this solid look from neck down that just suddenly ends right about the shin and it's weird. If you just plan to use this in the bedroom, no big deal. But if you want to wear it to a party or to be photographed, just keep their eyes up higher. :)
