White garter slip and thong - chemise discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Sin Secret

This slip has its ups and downs. Some things about it are great, some things about it...make me not want to wear it. I'll try to go through each of them.
This slip is a simple, white slip with lace front and a corset-like layer of ribbons tying the back. There are three bows on the top, and garters hanging down if you need them. Also includes a very simple, pretty comfortable, white thong with some lace trim.

My first reaction was "Wow, it's very...bridal..." which is definitely true. It's super white, and it's lacy and has...bows. You don't really notice them in the picture, but the three bows which made the bigger one in the middle much more bearable. It was quite an improvement, actually, and I was annoyed that it needed it, but that's really my fault for getting something with bows on it.

That being said, it is very pretty. Clean, silky white, with pretty patterns and a simple look. That also being said, however, it didn't look nearly as good on me.

I'm a small. In fact, sometimes I'm an extra small. So I got a small size. But I'm half-hispanic and very curvy. This slip is not curvy. Really, not at all. Maybe it's because I've gained a few pounds lately--though this seems unlikely to be the issue-- but I had to loosen all of the ties in the back and each string was tied at the very end. I'm not what I would consider an almost medium-- I'm petite-- and if I didn't have curves, I really don't think this would have been an issue, but the first thing I said to my boyfriend once I had it on (it was a struggle) was "I don't think I've ever worn anything so unflattering". I couldn't get my boobs to stay inside the cup without my nipple poking awkwardly through the lace (this is not the fault of the dress, however, since I have C cups and most small sizes assume A or B, but the silken fabric only covers a portion of the cups, with a tiny bit of lace covering the rest--I'm sorry if I prefer my nipples not showing through...) the soft fabric super-hugged my curves so that you could see every bump and ridge and it had creases and bunches everywhere, and the faux-corset ties in the back weren't even in bows, they were in knots because I didn't have enough string left on them to actually tie, and even then you could still tell it needed more room. I felt like I was squeezed into something that I didn't have any business wearing. Not a feeling that puts you in the mood.
With the girl in the picture, you'd think (well, she has hips, why does it look good on her? For one thing, that't not quite the curvy I mean. Her hips are still only a tiny bit bigger than her waist. But, to test this, I stood in that exact position in the mirror. Guess what? It looked good. The tilt of the hips and the stretch of the side with the arm up does something to the fabric that stretches it out in all the right places, so you don't notice the faults as much. It was like magic. But, I couldn't stand like that forever to make my lingerie flattering.

The ribbons in the back tie in two separate places. This is kind of annoying if you forget to adjust the ties before you put it on (which is definitely something you want to do) but it's also kind of neat, because it allows adjustments for those of us with sort of lopsided figures, where our tops are larger than our bottoms, or vice-versa. If this slip allowed for curves, this would be a very useful part of the dress.

One really good thing I noticed about this was that it went well underneath other clothes. Wearing a simple dress, this hid underneath pretty well (at least, without the bows I snipped...) Other lingerie I've gotten pokes out or has awkward straps, etc. But as long as the dress you're wearing isn't too form-fitting or sheer (you will see the ribbons in the back, then) it works well as an actual slip, which is nice.

The garters are a little long, if you have shorter legs, but they adjust easily and, at the very least, are removable. I like them, and wish I still had thigh highs to wear with them.

I would also like to point out that the description says it has a "side zipper closure". There is not such thing on this slip. In fact, that addition might make it quite a bit easier to get into, but nope, there's no zipper here.

Now, this all sounds very whiney, and it did occur to me that the slips just ran a little small and I should have just gotten a medium instead. However, I don't really think this is the case. This slip is so straight and narrow, that I really think that in any size, if you're curvy, it would have a similar reaction. Maybe a large enough size wouldn't make you feel squeezed or uncomfortable, but I'm willing to bet that by that time it just flat out wouldn't fit. Someone please correct me if they've had a better experience with it.
