Purrr-fect long gown and g-string - gown discontinued by Fantasy Lingerie - review by arewehavingfun?

This full legnth open front gown is very lightweight. From the band below your breast, extending 56", the fabric is very sheer black net with a pointelle design. Pointelle is a term for sheer fabric that has a consistant pattern of dots worked into the weave. The dots are highlighted by the sheer net being woven a bit tighter and darker appearing. There is no raised texture to the dots or any part of this fabric. The bra portion of this is an opaque, smooth and semi-shiny leopard print. The front edges of the dress portion as well as the bra are trimmed in a red lace with a very narrow satin black ribbon in the center.

The colors in this gown are black, red and several shades of brown and beige. The G-string that is included is the same leopard pattern as the bra. It is the standard Fantasy Lingerie G-string--a triangular front, a small crotch lining and trimmed in narrow red elastic. It has enough stretch to fit many women. Unstretched the top band is 16"; stretched it is 23". I am not a fan of G-strings. When I buy lingerie I really wish that a pantie option was offered or more outfits came with other style of panties.

The size of the woman who can wear this is limited by the bra size only. The dress portion is open in the front so a few more pounds or a few less inches will not affect the fit of this garment. The band of the bra potion has very little stretch. From the unstretched measurement of 15" you can add only another 2" by quite forcibley stretching the band. The small cups have a comfortable underwire and there is a small black ribbon bow between the breasts and at the point where each shoulder strap meets the bra. The straps are made of the same red elastic from the G-string and are adjustable.

Although the Fantasy Lingerie states that the size large should accomodate a size 14/16, these 36 C/D breasts and size 12/14 had no room inside these cups. The band was also snug. I more than spilled over--and in an unflattering way. If the underwire were not in place, it would have been too uncomfortable to wear. I am sure my breasts would hang below the band of the bra, a problem I often have.

The lycra/nylon material is very soft. I have moderatley sensative skin but nothing about this outfit irritates me. The instructions from the company say that it is machine washable in warm water and can be tumble dryed. I wash everything in cold water. I would not just toss this in the washing machine. The net bottom is very, very fine and thin. I do not think it would do well in the washing machine, especialy if you have a washing machine with an old fashioned agitator. I prefer to place this in a lingerie bag before placing this in the wash. I do not tumble dry it (although the company says you can). It is so light that it drys very fast. I think it could easily be damaged in the dryer, even if left in the lingerie bag for protection.

I am torn with this gown. The bra is tight and the cups are small on my 36 C/D size 12/14 body. My husband likes the way it looks on me but I do not. When I wear this I dance around with the bottom part to tease my partner but also to hid the parts of my body that I feel uncomfortable about. I have fun wearing it before we get in bed (it comes off really quickly!!) but I do not feel comfortable just lounging around in it. I have nowhere to hide with this gown. But, that isn't much of a problem because my hubby loves the sheernes and the way my breast just overlow when I wear this so it never stays on my body long enough to worry about anything.

I still like wearing this. It is comfortable and has plenty of room because of the open split in the front. I machine wash it in a net bag but I think that hand washing would increase the life of it. Hand washing is a pain though, so I will stick to the machine.
