Mary mermaid by Fun Factory

I’m on a quest for the perfect toy, and so when I saw the Mary Mermaid of the “Twist and Shake” series by Fun Factory with her graceful ergonomic curves, and 4.5-5 inches of insertable length to the ‘tail’, I was excited. I got to turn the Mermaid on and see how she moved before I bought her…boy is she powerful. The head moves in a circle with a slightly larger circumference than most rabbit vibrators and the “tail” is quite powerful, even when it isn’t turned up all the way. In addition to the vibrating tail and rotating head, there are rotating beads in the body of the Mermaid to stimulate the opening of your vagina – these beads are controlled by the same control as that of the head. The controls are easy to use – there’s a power button to turn it on and then two wheel type controls to adjust the speeds of the tail and the head individually. It’s very easy to use by sense of touch and in the dark, which is fantastic.

If you’re like me, you might be wondering how loud it is. I’ll just tell you straight up: When turned up all the way, better turn some music on too if you don’t want anyone to hear! It can be loud, especially if you’re using both the clitoral stimulator and vaginal stimulator together on full power. It isn’t so loud that it will be heard from far away, but if you live in a thin walled apartment or dorm room, your neighbor might here a low buzzing.

I mentioned earlier that the Mary Mermaid is made by Fun Factory, a German company that uses only the best materials. The Mermaid is of a high grade silicone, so it’s non porous (it won’t hold bacteria with proper cleaning) and can be washed with soap and water. The silicone itself is soft and flexible. It runs on 4 AA batteries. The batteries can be tricky to remove when changing them – you may need a pen or a pair of scissors to get the batteries out, but you know they’re securely in there! The battery cover is also very tight and seems fairly sturdy – it is not water proof but if you get a splash of water on there while cleaning it, it should be okay! On the subject of batteries, I’d like to add that I really appreciate that it doesn’t go through batteries very quickly…mine probably has 4 hours on it and while it isn’t as strong as it was with new batteries, it’s definitely not time for a battery change yet!

My overall opinion of the Mary Mermaid is that it’s a fun toy, it’s definitely not my favorite so far, but it isn’t terrible either. It’s just that – fun. It is a big toy (read: use lube), but it isn’t enormous and unreasonable, it’s comparable to a reasonably well endowed man at its widest point (appx. 4.5 inches in circumference under the head opposite the top of the tail). It’s filling, which I like. It is not my perfect toy, it doesn’t seem to fit my body quite right, but it could work for you and fit you just right, so if it sounds good to you and looks good to you, try it out!

The most important thing to remember with this toy is to use lube! It is a big toy.
