Shimmer and Shake

California Exotics has created a novel new sex toy to light up your sex life -- literally -- but whether you love the Lighted shimmers LED glider teaser or not depends on your personal tastes. Some will find it cute while others will find it tacky and there's certainly better egg vibrators on the market if strength is a concern.

Use

As the name suggests, the light vibrations and small size of the Lighted shimmers LED glider teaser is perfect for external teasing. The clitoris, nipples and other erogenous zones will benefit from the soft touch of this vibrator. It has virtually no learning curve and everyone can use it, solo or with a partner, quite easily.

Material / Texture

The egg itself is smooth, made of hard plastic. There's no texture here, which makes it easy to glide along the body; although, you can feel a seam that runs around the width of the toy, where the ends fit together. It has a slightly plastic scent out of the package but nothing that won't wash away.

Although you wouldn't normally read about the texture of a toy's remote, I think the controller is also an important aspect design-wise. Again, it's made of a hard plastic but it's faceted to look like a jewel -- think a child's play jewelry. Each face is smooth.

Design / Shape / Size

The egg vibrator is a typical shape. It's longer than it is wide with rounded ends, mostly unremarkable. What is interesting is that the purple plastic is translucent so you can see the inner workings. When the vibrator is on, the vibrating mechanism looks a lot like a rumble pack that you may have seen on a video game controller. There is also a single LED light bulb within the egg itself that lights up when you turn the vibrations on.

The egg is very versatile for external stimulation but lacking if you want insertion. You may experiment with insertion if you insert the egg into a condom but it will be difficult to control. You can use it with some cock rings and accessories that fit on small vibrators, however. Lighted shimmers LED glider teaser isn't intimidating nor does it reflect genitalia so it's a good choice for nervous beginners. However, the classic egg shape is notable for a vibrator.

Because of its small size, you can tuck it away in a drawer or even your purse or bag quite easily for storage or use on the go.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This little vibrator is extremely easy to control. There's a dial embedded into the side of the gem-like controller that you simply turn to turn on/up the vibrations or do the opposite. The intensity of the light actually varies with the vibrations. However, the dial is so small and the controller so large -- about 3" long and 2" wide -- that the dial can be difficult to locate.

Interesting enough, you can unplug the egg from the controller by removing the plug from the jack. I personally do not have a use for this system but you may be able to connect it to another controller.

The majority of the controller actually houses the batteries -- 3 AAAs. This produces rather buzzy vibrations that are focused on the surface of the egg. They're not the strongest vibrations and there actually isn't a lot of difference between the highest and lowest settings. Power queens should look elsewhere. There are no patterns to be found with this toy.

This vibrator is a little loud for its power output. It's not something that can be heard through a closed door but someone in the same room could probably hear it through covers.

Care and Maintenance

You can wash this toy with soap and water and dry it without worrying about lint. However, it's not waterproof and you should not submerge it in water, especially because of the electrical parts. The plastic won't react with any other materials that you may store it wish.

Packaging

The Lighted shimmers LED glider teaser comes in a cardboard box advertising the toy. The toy rests in a plastic bag inside. It's no-frills and disposable.
