The Mildly Mediocre Minuet

As a fan of Evolved's line of toys, I really wanted to fall in love with this vibrator; and lust after it like I do the others in my collection. After all it features a ‘perfect’ size, ideal bullet placement, waterproof housing, and easy battery replacement. This all suggests a good investment. However, the lack of noticeable texture, soft/porous material, and awkwardly located button location on this model, left me merely satisfied rather than ecstatic.
Published:
Pros
Ample size, waterproof, suitable vibrations for most, phthalates-free, high quality, fair price.
Cons
Unnoticeable texture, limited bending, obnoxious button, soft/porous material.

extremely useful review
It was difficult to decide how I feel about this toy. I wanted so desperately to fall in love with it, as I have with my other Evolved toys. However there are too many ways that this toy could be improved, for me to give it the four or five stars that I wanted to. Though don't get me wrong, the Minuet does have quite a bit to offer and, at around $30.00 I wouldn't go so far as to say that this is a disappointing investment. It just doesn't exemplify what I've come to expect from them, through playing with such exceptional toys as their Silky G. In fact many of the Minuet's negative qualities have been improved, or eliminated, in their other lines.

Like the rest of Evolved's toys, this one comes in an elegant & reusable metal tin. I received the pink Minuet, but for those who prefer something less ‘girly’, a beautiful blue is also available. It is made of phthalates-free TPR and is ‘nearly’ odorless. The oh-so-slight ‘new’ smell disappears after the initial wash.

It's important to note that TPR is somewhat porous. So it's imperative to wash it with warm water & soap after every use, and if you're sharing it be sure to slip a condom over it. It also attracts pet hair and dust, so clean & covered storage helps. Compared to some of Evolved's other toys, the Minuet is on the quieter side. The TPR lessens the intensity of the vibrations in contrast to their plastic toys. Of course, true to the brand, this toy is also completely waterproof.

What initially drew me to this toy was its generous length and girth, accompanied by seemingly prominent waves along the entire shaft. While the 6 inches of insertable length and 1.5 inch diameter might not be much for some, it is plenty for most to enjoy. It should not be too much for a beginner to feasibly work, when implementing some good lube & a little preparatory playtime beforehand.

As for the waves along the shaft, they fell terribly short of my expectations. While visually they are quite noticeable, the squishiness of the material makes it extremely difficult to feel them once it's inserted. A more rigid material or more prominent waves would have provided better results.

One thing that I do really appreciate about the Minuet, is the excellent bullet placement within the toy. It's positioned inside the head, about a half inch or so away from the very tip, offering a high concentration of vibrations when trying to reach the g-spot (which, due to the segmented flexibility of the shaft, will be very easy for some and very difficult for others).

I found it fairly easy to nestle the head into my g-spot, but only when bent at just-the-right-angle, which takes some playing to figure out. The shaft bends only at two points, the first being a little more than 2 inches away from the head. Travel two more inches down the shaft, and you arrive at the second point. The rest of the toy is too rigid to bend, but still too soft to feel the wavy texture.

The bottom four inches of the toy host the battery compartment, which is very high quality. All of the inner wiring and components are housed within the toy, with nothing left exposed. Two AA batteries fit inside a simple housing unit which slides out of the main compartment, for very easy battery replacement and, for "buzz-free" storage (which incidentally is highly important, because the on/off button is extremely easy to unintentionally press).

As with all of Evolved's Symphony toys, there is a single button located at the very bottom of the toy; which comes to a tapered point. Compared to the Evolved toys which have a rounded base (See the True Love, Diamond, and Fleur de Lis editions), this button is obnoxiously easy to push. Additionally a single button means that you must cycle through all three of the vibration speeds, in order to turn the toy off. I would have preferred for there to be two buttons; one power, and one speed button, and for them to be located elsewhere or for the base to be rounded.

Overall this is a good toy for the price with a lot of excellent qualities, but I just can't help but compare it to related products and be disappointed. Even without looking at other Evolved products, I was very unhappy with the misleadingly subtle waves and very poor choice for button placement. However, at just over $30, I still think that this is a good buy for those that aren't very concerned with texture; and are looking to expand a very basic sex toy collection.

Okay, the button is actually supposed to do something. I'll be sending mine back since the button doesn't change the speed or even turn the toy on and off. However, I'll be requesting something else as a replacement since my experience with this has been literally unsatisfying.
