Trying to figure out a way to get my girlfriend of three years into some light bondage, not really sure which would be a good starter.

Rope! It's so much more versatile.

Cuffs imo. Get her a pair of quick-release cuffs ( furry or not ) so she'll feel comfortable with them even if you lose the keys. Rope is more of a 'committing' thing unless you want to cut it off her if she starts freaking out, and that, imo, is wasting money.

Plus, cuffs can look non-threatening if they're furry.

Just to avoid fumbles and accidental face slapping from the rope, you can try the cuffs. The furry kind is less intimidating too.

I like cuffs better for wrist-binding, but rope for creative binding. Can also get the nice leather wrist cuffs and bind them together with rope and go from there. ^_^

Leather cuffs. Metal ones cut into skin and aren't as versatile.

I voted rope because I was thinking handcuffs, but after I got over my brain fart and thought about leather/cloth cuffs I'd go with those.

Looks like my OnlyMaster didn't comment on this - well, if you ask me, I do say that rope is the ultimate binding item, especially because of the art of shibari (called kinkabu), but for a beginner cuffs are easier to use, you can just check out without anything else needed how it feels to be bound, though if you love to experiment then ropes are definitely for you! ^^

a good starter cuff is a nylon cuff with velcro holds

Petite Valentine Petite Valentine
All are beginner friendly (i.e. comfy and you can escape with a little effort):

Kinky pinky cuffs with tethers

Inked restraints tattoo wrist cuffs

Pink plush wrist cuffs

Plushy gear wrist cuffs

If you want something a little more serious:

Black jaguar cuffs

Cuffs are a great starter, much safer and easier. If you know knots, try rope, though doing some research would help.

I think cuffs would be better to start with and less of hassle. I just find cuffs sexy.

Last I checked there was fuzzy cuffs available for a free gift. I know they were available when I placed an order yesterday. Personally I think you should go with a set or kit like this.

Rope isn't a bad idea, but you need to pick up information about how to tie knots unless you know how or watch this video.

Rope! If your partner tends to pull against their bonds, they can tear their wrists open on handcuffs. I did that once, and it really sucked.

We started with cuffs and are moving onto ropes and such.

Cuffs. Less complicated. My boyfriend and I experimented with $5 toy hand cuffs at first that weren't hard to get out of yourself, which seemed to take away any sort of stress that might otherwise be in someone's first light bondage situations.

i agree, for safety and relative comfort i'd go for cuffs first off. No fumbling around and also running the risk of having a loop tighten around a wrist/ankle accidentally.

Cuffs are easier to begin with, and more safe (as rope has a bit of a learning curve).

Cuffs to begin with, no doubt. Or perhaps silk scarves?

Rope takes practice so I'd go with cuffs to start out.

I definitely recommend the kinky pinky cuffs with tethers. They are sooooo comfortable, but do the job!

Handcuffs are way more conventional so she might be more comfortable with them. I would prefer rope though
