I've been doing the same with my husband. He's loving the book too.

Especially since only female reindeer have antlers in the winter (all the way until their young are born and ready to run,) so Santa's reindeer are all girls.

Hubby loves absinthe. He'd be happy to join you in a drink. I'm not too fond of the flavor, but the whole ritual with the fiery sugar cube and all is fun.

Hey Everybody (and Mitzi!)

I have a couple club notes I wanted to get out of the way right away.

First... we have made a line-up change for January. We've run into a bit of a delay with Best Sex Writing 2012, so we're postponing it to later in the year.

Now up for January are the following:

Sweet Confessions: Fantasies for Couples - Violet Blue

Take Me There: Trans and Genderqueer Erotica - Tristan Taormino

What makes this awesome is that we are working on Twitter Parties with these awesome editors... so stay tuned, January is bound to be exciting, no matter what!

Liz should have the new book info posted to the NRBC blog this week, or you can check them out on CleisPress.com and then let us know what you want to review.

Also, if you've sent a request to nakedreaderbookclub@gm ail.com to be a part of our book reviewing group and have not heard back (check your mail first, many of you got emails today) go ahead and email us again.

If you put in a request for either December book and have not gotten an assignment yet (unless you sent your request today) go ahead and email us to let us know that as well.

Hi guys, it's Tahira Iqbal, writer of The Queen as featured in Red Velvet and Absinthe. It's pretty bad weather here in the UK, so if I disappear, blame that! Hey Mitzi! x

It's more of a ritual these days, since they took the fun stuff out - that being the wormwood, which was the thing that caused all those artists to be inspired!

Your favorites were very good stories, and they were mostly at the beginning of the book.

The book started really strong, and when I was getting at the end, it was getting harder for the stories to sound as good. And there was one story, The Way Home, that didn't feel paranormal to me or even erotic. Unless I completely missed a key element.

Those of you who've read the book (or not)--how important is an atmospheric setting to you? I loved that part of most of the stories.
