Edenfantasy Web Design

Hey, so I'm new here, and the first thing I noticed was that the site seems very cluttered. I know plenty of you have been around a while and have gotten used to the layout and how to find things, but for a new-comer, it's a bit off putting. Honestly, I completely discounted the site the first time I stumbled across it, but I found that I kept coming back here because of the wealth of information in all the reviews.

The process of signing up for a reviewer account has been... interesting. The FAQs are helpful enough, but they would be much improved by adding links to the relevant pages, for example, a link to the sign up page for the mentoring program. And like RexyRN said, there are other tweaks that could be done to the mentor process itself. I find that I have to keep asking my mentor how to do things, which is nice enough as a get-to-know you sort of thing, but it would be even nicer if I could just figure things out on my own.

Another beef I have with the site design is the tagging system for products. Does anyone find it useful? On the page of any well reviewed product, you end up with every single tag being listed. So one product will have the tags "only for use on a bed," "for use anywhere," and for use by "everyone," and "anyone." Everyone and Anyone are separate tags? Seriously? Does this make sense to anyone?

Phew. Okay. Rant over. I really like all the reviews on here, I just wish it was easier to navigate the site, and that the layout was a bit more coherent.

P.S. if you couldn't tell, I'm a design student. Not web design (well, not yet, anyway) but I do notice these things.

Have you had a chance to check out the EdenBlog yet?

The Mentor program isn't and shouldn't be JUST about reviews. There's a LOT of stuff under the EdenFantasys umbrella and mentor should be there to help out the new person with the site on the whole.

Hope that helps!

No, I hadn't checked out the blog yet, because I didn't realize it would have info on how to use the site. It seems like a useful resource, maybe it should be named something more descriptive, or linked to on the FAQs.

One more thing I just thought of, Is there a way to clear your "Assignment" section, I have a bunch of reviews that I requested, and then cancelled cause I was told EF wasn't reviewing those items and a few push assignments that I declined, but they are still sitting on the page along with my other completed/accepted reviews...If there's not a way to delete/clear the non-applical assignments, I think it would be awesome to add one!

The new product pages are awful. So much wasted space. SO many useful things gone; so many useless things in its place. Honestly, guys, it looks half-finished. That one change alone has dropped EF as the definitive sex toy resource to the only I use if no one else has any info.

I second the deleting reviews, I've been told it's possible but I still can't figure out how, but the only sugestion i have for the site it to allow navigaion from deeper pages because I hate having to go back the main page to get between the detail pages and the forums.

I still have not gotten used to them so therefor still like the older version. So much cleaner and seamless. I know it is an ongoing process but there are still a lot of issues with the new ones. Some of them are missing info, parts of reviews, etc.

I do like the special ones though like for some of the LELO toys. I think those are great for when a product is new and it should be featured but I prefer the old ones.

I found a problem with this as a mentor too. When I click go back to review list to see my STUDENTS reviews, it kicks me to MY reviews.

That doesn't bother me, but it does bother me that I can't delete reviews that were never finished. Some products I have decided to not finish reviewing and they just sit there and clutter my lists.

P.S. I LOVE that there are more pictures on many of the products. That is one of the things I do love about the changes.

Eden's website is really the reason I started buying here. When you can open up a page of all vibrators and then slowly refine the variables and then still sort by rating, it's really quite useful. I actually started out using Eden for reference to find out if I really wanted certain toys, but saw that Eden had a better selection and better prices than most other place I looked so I stay here.
True, some parts of the site need a bit of fine tuning, the homepage is a little jumbled for example, but I feel the refining options make up for it.

I was thinking that it would be great to have a button at the top of a discussion page (in the forum) that can navigate so you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to switch it. It would also be nice to have the option to go directly to the last page of the posting so you don't have to scroll through 1, 20, and so on.

It took me about an hour yesterday to figure out what the linking policy was on adding your blog url to your profile. GAH.

I don't have a problem with the layout, but I'm new and may not be utilizing all that the site has to offer.

My biggest issue so far has been that it took me forever to find a link to sign up for the newsletter. There are like 4 or 5 ways to see the current sales and promotions but even when i selected the newsletter or the whole list there was nowhere to sign up for it. I eventually found the link in my dashboard, and again shortly after on the review page.

I also agree with Alicia, it's kind of difficult to find products that have had less than two verified reviews on them. There also seem to be a lot of products that come up in the product search section that are already out of stock. When reviewers apply for them it means that admin has to sort through a ton of review applications for products they cannot review, and reviewers spend a bunch of time applying for products they cant get, instead of ones they can.

I think this website is great!! I've looked at other sex toy websites and they are terrible. There is no organization or appeal. I love the design of this website, it's very inviting.

Overall, I think this is a very well-designed web site. One thing I wish would be added are page number links at the top and bottom of each discussion page. Right now, page links are only listed at the bottom.

I've never had any problems with the site, and I love the way the search works. Find me another site that lets me sort by so many variables. I've never seen anything like it, on any site, not just sex toy sites. One minor complaint though. If for example, I go to the dildo section, and sort by material, so that only the glass dildos show up, this works perfectly. But when I click on one, then hit the back button in my browser, that search parameter had disappeared, even though it is still checked in the sidebar. I often find myself unchecking, and rechecking parameters for searches. Any way this can be fixed?

I'd like to be able to view a user's wall and apply a filter to see only that user's activity and nothing from any followers.

The design realy attract us to keep log in the site. Colours are so calm, beautiful and attractive.

For such leader site in the industry, I think crowded homepage is not a problem for users.

I find it a bit confusing at times, but I'm not very computer-literate. It's not too hard to find everything, in my opinion.
It is kind of hard to find the whole mentor program though.

I chose the first option as I find the site to be pretty user friendly for how much info it has on it. Don't really see how else it could be set up really.

As a web developer by trade, I love the EF layout, design, and usability. I had a little trouble finding the company pages and personal stores at first, but I've found that most of the site has a very logical flow. Thepink, white, and green visual design is really nice too

I really like the site design. However, I do think that there could definitely be more of a user friendly "ness" to it. (If that made sense lol).

Theres certain areas of the website that I would love to go to, but I have to do a few clicks on some other links to get there first. I think that if they were better laid out on the home page, folks would know they were there and use those features more often. Theres a few things that could be added too, but that is for my own personal preference. not really sure how user friendly it would be for others.
