I have had this happen like 6 times in my life where it was welcome and awesome. (And I can count, because they were memorable and incredible.) And then a handful more times where it's someplace completely inappropriate and I'll have to stifle myself, which I naturally haven't counted.
So, possible, but rare occurrence.

This happens sometimes in my sleep. Never during waking; I'm not nearly that orgasmic normally, but I will wake up in the middle of an orgasm sometimes.. it's strange! Since this thread has come up again, I have to relate my near spontaneous orgasm experience.
We're evicting a tenant right now and it has become complicated and messy. The trial, which usually takes 10 - 15 minutes, took 4 1/2 hours spread out over 2 days. After weeks of stress leading up to it, the trial itself was intensely stressful.
At the very end, when it was clear the judge was about to rule, for some reason I felt incredibly aroused/excited/happy as though all senses were on 100%. I really thought that if the judge ruled in our favor that I would have had my first spontaneous O. It really felt imminent.
Sadly, the judge said he would decide later. We would hear the result through the mail. What a disappointment! Denied what was possibly my only chance for a spontaneous O.
I learned a week later that we won our case, but I wasn't fully fired up anymore. No spontaneous O.

Other people can believe anything that makes sense to them. I just don't want myself to be included in things that don't make sense to me. It's definitely not offensive to read what other people think!
