I'm from the country and we always wore ball caps with ponytails through out the summer. I was talking to a neighbor who is going camping and I reminded her to take her hats with her. She reacted by telling me how tacky that was and that she wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. What the ???

Depends on the circumstances, but camping is totally an acceptable time to wear a baseball cap. It keep the sun off your face. It's not like you suggested she wear her ball cap to a dinner at a fine restaurant.

Ball caps that are obviously used and loved, cute. It's almost necessary that a sports team be featured. They look great on anyone that isn't "trying" to wear it. If you just wear one, it works.

Trucker hats or ball caps that say "I'm so Hot" or some other stupid phrase or random rap lyric and have their own hat box because god-forbid the brim should be bent or the label come off, lame. Yes, that run on sentence should capture the disdain I have for that particular accessory.

depends on what they're wearing with them, cute comfy hat with a somewhat fitted t-shirt and jeans: adorable. DO NOT wear a beat up hat with and oversized dirty shirt and even more oversized torn up PJ pants, that is trashy.

When I'm gardening or hiking. I have a few of them, one in pastel yellow, one in pastel green and one or two from Brookfield Zoo, because we got to the zoo and I realized I didn't have a hat. I get headaches from the sun, so I had to buy a little ball cap two times when we arrived at the Zoo.

I only wear them on working or casual occasions. Not out with friends, unless we'll be at... the zoo or somewhere else outside.

I have long hair and I get headaches and dehydrate easily, so I need to cover my head if we're outdoors.

My Man thinks I look adorable in them.

I think they are well acceptable for camping.

I think it all depends on where your wearing it to. your not going to where it to a fancy dinner? but camping is a totally cute place to wear one. As is a football game, a country bar (I'm from the south as well.) at home or a friends home watching the game, a baseball game, the list can go on... it just depends on the situation and where your wearing it to...

Honestly I haven't tried it. But I have a lot of work to get done today (inside and out) and I think it would look cute with my working clothes today and the hubby may like it. =) I know it looks great on other girls! Off to see. =)

And my comment on your neighbors reaction: I agree with most posters, it depends on the situation. I think a lot of women look good like this.
