Do you live in a Tornado prone area of the country?

Same here. We live in an apartment. If a tornado hit us, we'd be fucked, as the complex doesn't have a shelter.

I live in a town that was raped by an F5 back on April 10, 1979. I was 4 and remember it quite well. My husband was visiting family just a few blocks away. We both had a storm shelter back then. However now we live in an apartment. Thank goodness its on the ground floor. If a storm such as an F5 hits, I don't think it will matter. I will kiss my husband and tell him that I love him, hope my mom and children will remember me as I was and that I love them, and then I will be ready to meet my maker/ fate. I am not scared.

We are on the east coast too. On the beach, near ocean. No basements for us either, or it would be a pool inside an hour!

Those can look pretty impressive too. We have seen a few.

No, and I would never move to a state that was. Tornadoes are one of my biggest fears. Been in one while on vacation, panicked and was sure it was going to end bad...NEVER want to experience that again. I think those storm chasers are NUTS!
Every place has something that causes "threat", however.

That's us too. Thankfully, while potentially the most destructive of storms, they also give the most warning. Sometimes a week or more.

I'm lucky to live in an area with few natural disasters (except drought and boiling hot sun!), so I count that as a plus
I wish those of you in tornado-prone areas all the best

I live in AR and we get several tornadoes a year. I don't have a shelter, but it's on my things to buy list once we get the car paid off. We do have a shelter a couple houses down at his grandparents that we can go to though so that's good.

I've been through a straight line wind that was just as bad as a true funnel that touched down. The wind blew down a 100+ year old gigantic oak tree on our car and the garage. Tipped over the kids swing set, picked the trampoline up and placed it in the fence etc. SCARY!

Not a tornado prone area. Nor-easters are our biggest concerns. My house is a bit older, so it's not as sturdy as one would hope. We've had some major damage, including major flooding in the past.

I live in Oklahoma, and our house does not have an underground shelter. Fortunately we have a "Storm room", which is just a room on the ground floor in the middle of the house with no windows.

(I am not near the Moore tornado, my family and I are all safe!)

I live in the city in a part of Ohio. We get them around us but so far the 4 years I have been here we have not had one hit the city. Most of these apartment complexes here are not safe at all. I would have no clue what to do if put in that situation.

Yes I live near Kansas city so there are definitely tornados around. My condo has a basement so I always go down there whenever the sirens go off. I keep a spare bed and some bottles of water down there too just in case. It is also where my sex furniture like my sex swing and bondage pieces are, so it is actually my tornado shelter/sex dungeon

Our state recorded 40 tornados last year.

Nope not where I live. Just hurricanes for us. But even they are rare.

Tornadoes don't happen regularly here, but we get lots of warnings & watches. I've been through 2 or 3, I don't remember exactly. Everyone here has basements, so that is not a problem, I have shelter & supplies. I just need to work on storing more water, because what's already stored in my hot water tank, is not enough of a cushion to make me feel prepared enough to get through most difficulties. I worry most about being able to gather my cats in time & keep them safe with me.

Nice try!!! See this link Have you ever experience a natural disaster? A shelter can be used during other type of disasters, there not exclusive to tornadoes. But I guess without doing a forum search, we can ask near any type of duplicate or similar questions.

i am very happy to live in between the mountains of Pa. I dont have to worry about tornados, hurricanes or earthquakes that much. Just shitty weather and construction

Chicago isn't particularly tornado-prone, but my parents downstate never had a shelter. The basement was always what we used for warnings.

I personally do not live in a tornado prone area, nor would I ever move somewhere that would have them. I live across the river from a state that does get them and when ever the sirens go off I can hear them from my house. It scares me big time and makes me want to run too.

I'm from Kansas, tornado prone for sure. We have a basement, which I hope proves it's self some day if we have a tornado. The thought is scary, especially with what just happened down in Okie.

we live in an area where a tornado is kind of common, but not even our basement would be considered "safe" seeing as there are windows

I live in an area that gets a lot of tornado warnings and watches, though if they touch down, they usually do not do so within the city limits for some reason. My house does not have a specific shelter like a basement, though we do have a central bathroom that might protect us somewhat if a tornado did ever decide to tear through my neighborhood.

Asks- Do you live in a Tornado prone area of the country?
Options- Doesn't a list a Do not live in a tornado prone area.

That's like having a yes and no question but only having two yes answers to choose from.
