Have you ever experience some type of natural disaster where you live or where you may have visited?

I live in an area thats pretty prone to hurricanes, and have experienced quite a few over the last few years.

Here in Washington I've experienced earthquakes, floods, hailstorms, severe windstorms, (small) volcanic eruptions and forest fires. We also get frequent avalanches and lahars with large volcanic eruptions but I've never experienced those.

When I was living in Southbridge, Ma we had a freak tornado. I was sitting on my porch watching people run into thier basements thinking they were crazy. After some time passed, I started seeing the roration in the clouds. It was unreal given that my area does not get tornadoes. I was lucky that the only thing that was squashed was our car. Our neighbors weren't so lucky.
I can't imagine living in a place where these types of things are reoccurring.

Been in hurricanes and hailstorms, and storms that threw off tornados a few miles away that did a lot of damage. Have been in extremely mild earthquakes, actually slept through some. Been on the outskirts of wildfires where I can smell the smoke.

Hurricanes. I went through Hurricane Andrew back in '92.

Hurricane whatever is was we had last year in the Northeast... Smashed the roof off my house. Fun times .

I've been through two hurricanes (Irene, though it wasn't as bad as Sandy. Sandy was the worst hurricane I've witnessed and went through to date.), a fire, and a minor tremor that was felt all the way up to NY due to a earthquake in Virginia and your gusty wind storms.

Just a rather large earthquake and a flood when I was a kid. There was threats of the mountain blowing up but it never did.

The worst thing I've seen so far was a major flood when I lived in the Midwest in 1993. Superstorm Sandy was bad, but it happened pretty fast. The flood took place over several WEEKS, and part of the horror was not knowing whether you, or someone you loved, was going to be affected... then thinking everything was going to be OK, only to have the rains pick up again and dash your hopes.

Earthquake. I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I was standing in the middle of my living room when the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake occurred; instead of running for cover, I was transfixed to the spot - luckily our neighborhood wasn't affected by the quake too much.

We got floods all the time where I grew up

yes, a few smaller earthquakes, strong wind/rain storms in Japan, and the eruption of Mt St. Helens.

I've had tornados in my area...and once had to stay in a cooler at my job due to it.

ive experienced most of these, but i was in the 89 earthquake in san fran i was 4 but i still remember it.

Coupled with Sandy + that earthquake a few years back, I've been in too many!
05/20/2013
it was such a bad wind storm it blow a car off the blocks it was on

I've been in areas where gale force winds, tornadoes, hurricanes,h ailstorms, blizzards, and eveen a tiny little earthquake took place at whe different times, but they've never had a big impact on my life. When I was living in Florida we sometimes had smoke from forest fires or brush fires in neighboring states. It was pretty unnerving. For the most part I have been so blessed and safe.

I've been through floods, hurricanes and tornadoes when I live back east. In CA I've experienced earthquakes and wildfires.

Maine tends to get hit with hurricanes, but normally it's the end of them, but one year we actually got the first catergory. We had to hunt for our friends lawn chairs.
I went through a earthquake at age 16. I was reading a manga in bed and the room just shook.
We did have a tornado a couple years ago but my anxiety was so high over it I barely remember it ._.
The forest fire was the first one, I was 7 and living with my grandfather. My brother was the one who actually realized there was a fire and it alerted that entire road.
We have severe wind storms every summer.
The flood was back when I was 15. We were so surprised but we remembered we were at the beach...the cabin was damaged.

Nothing drastic. But I've been through hurricanes and earthquakes.

Just hurricanes and hail. I don't ever plan on living near a volcano or in tornado alley so hopefully I don't have to experience those!

Just hurricanes

Here is Washington we get really strong wind storms every once in a while, and we also get some hail, flooding and forest fires. The only major event that I've experienced was an earthquake in 2001 that was a 6.8 magnitude.

In Montana, we have many severe and national disaster rated fires...the windstorms can be quite severe, flooding is always an issue in the spring and avalanches are daily in the late winter/early spring!! Yeah--I guess I live in a larger natural disaster zone than I thought!!!

I've been in a tornado -- one that lasted all day long two May's ago. We've had a lot of forest fires around here as well as flooding (a very bad flood just yesterday, which is still affecting people, of course) but only was directly affected myself by the tornadoes & hail storms.

Where I grew up we often had earthquakes and not forest fires, but wildfires. School was cancelled for two days in my eighth grade year because of the wildfires surrounding our city. We all joked that, "Some kids get to have snow days? We get to have fire days."
Where I live now we have wind storms and are "at risk" for tornadoes, but I've yet to see one. I was so out of my element in high school here. We were told one day we were having a Tornado Drill. The teacher just went, "Okay. You all know what to do."
I was just sitting there dumbfounded, "Erm... duck under our desks, crouch down, and lace our hands together over our necks?"
Everyone looked at me like I was crazy, but I only knew earthquake drills.

Looking at your list- I just realised I have been through a flood while living in Wuhan, the Yangtze flooded and we were drunk as skunks laughing at all the cars and trucks floating on down the street and yelling that they should have stopped at the red light.
McDonalds was still open so we bought pickles.
I've been through pretty much your whole list while living here.
