Your parents, your spouse, you, and alcohol

Contributor: Beck Beck
I have been trying to tell my hubby he is an alcoholic, but he won't listen to me. My parents are not alcoholics neither am I, but my spouse is one! His behavior is completely different when he drinks, he says things that he doesn't mean then doesn't remember, he must drink every night, he drinks because "his pain", and he drinks because he likes to party. But that doesn't make him an alcoholic in his eyes. He doesn't get it and I wish he would! He thinks because he is funny to himself that he is a happy drunk so it is ok, but it is not funny unless you're drunk too! I wish he would listen to me, but he is stubborn and will not.

Well dear, my father was before he passed, and my mother and stepfather still are. And my 2 serious serious relationships I have had have been with fellows who have abused alcohol.
I never used to drink, but have picked up the habit in my current relationship. I guess I wanted to know if I was the only one.

I'm female and, from what I've been told, my father was/is and alcoholic. I don't drink anymore because I quit smoking and the two go hand in hand for me. Before I quit, I drank every once in a while.
