TSA Worker Leaves Message To Passenger Who Had A Sex Toy in her Luggage

Contributor: Mwar Mwar
I think it depends on the person. I rather have a "too funny" TSA worker who makes smart comments than the asshole ones who think they're god.

Well since how TSA is supposed to held in high regard (cough, cough) and if you argue with them you can get arrested. I would say that they deserve to be fired!!

I am between actions in this case. I'd laugh, for sure. That said, I would also be shocked that someone had that kind of nerve. They should definitely be punished in some sort of way, but maybe not fired. It just depends. I wouldn't like the idea that someone might have... HANDLED such a thing. Who really knows? They should definitely be suspended. It's sad enough that the world requires that kind of close watch. I see it being important, but it's still invading. When someone does something like this to make it worse, it's just sad. Hilarious, but sad. Haha

Fire the employee! Its bad enough "THEY" have the right to violate our privacy but they shouldn't have the right to harass you too!

somewhere between reprimand and nothing. it may be inappropriate, but your bags do get checked. you know that when you go to the airport

Totally inappropriate and the employee should be fired.

That's really embarrassing and that TSA workers shouldn't have done that

Totally inappropriate (but I chuckled). I'm on the fence whether the person should be fired or not.

Should be fired. No personal message should be left in anyones luggage, only messages for TSA.

I do NOT think this is funny. Actually, I think that this is straight out harassment.

While I don't think it necessarily is an immediate firing offense, I'm sure the TSA has some kind of HR department that will make the call. Generally they use a one or two strike warning system.

He would definitely be on close watch if it were my employee.

fire this person. you shouldn't have to be told this is not right. if you do something like this you definitely have difficulties with proper boundaries

while they have the right to search you luggage and may come across an adult toy or other "embarrassing" item, it is inappropriate to leave a message in them. what if some screener left a note commenting on your dirty underwear or something like that!

TSA staff are federal employees, so that behavior is not a surprise.

Everyone's luggage is searched so it isn't an invasion of privacy, but leaving a note like that is sexual harassment--not okay, and a reason to be fired in any other circumstance. Why not this?

While this employee's actions are totally inappropriate, I can understand how he/she may have discovered her "personal item" and thought to make a joke. I can only hope that TSA employees don't handle my personal items any more than what is necessary to do their job.

Funny? Yes. Humiliating? No, not what was written. Fired? Depends on the employees performance evaluations, but I'd say a reprimand is in order.

People need to get over themselves and if the lady wasn't comfortable enough with TSA seeing the toy then the dumb bitch shouldn't have put it in her bag. >__>

It seems like the TSA agent probably didn't mean to be disrespectful, but at the same time it was not appropriate.

I think the employee should probably be fired. You should be as professional as possible when you are doing through people's personal things.

Yes, the nature of the note affects my reaction as well. "Get your freak on girl!" would have me rolling with laughter, but a critical or judgmental note would have me complaining faster than you can say "harassment".

I would be PISSED off, more than anything. It's bad enough they're rifling through my stuff, but to leave a note? I wouldn't want someone to lose their job over it, though. Eventually it would be funny, but after a plane ride with all of the security crap, it would be hard to see the immediate humor.

It's not funny AT ALL to me and it's completely unprofessional. It could be completely humiliating to receive such a note, and it could motivate someone to sue the TSA for harassment. Given that there are real threats to our safety that the TSA is supposed to be guarding against, this kind of nonsense is an unacceptable distraction.

If that employee reported to me, I would have fired them, no discussion, no questions.

I think it's really inappropriate. I get that luggage gets searched, but that's really overstepping it.

That's terrible! I would be furious. I understand all luggage is subject to inspection, and that is fine. But I expect TSA personnel to exhibit professionalism while doing so.
