Does anyone else find themselves rejecting the idea of falling in love?

When I was younger all I wanted was to fall in love, and now I'm just over it, and yet it still sneaks up on me - When I don't particularly want it.

Does anyone else have this problem? I have commitment issues I know this very well, however it would be nice to know I'm not the only one this happens to.

I'm the same. I feel like it's an idea that is more disappointing than hopeful.

By my early 30s I had given up on love as well - but then I met the love of my life and have been madly in love for 23+ years.

I know that the idea of loving and living with or marrying someone has completely changed for me recently. I have always been secretly a bit jaded when it came to love but now am more in the open about it not being my thing anymore.

I've always fight against it every step of the way. I'm a bit of a control freak. ;] The idea of being that dependent (even though rationally I know it doesn't necessarily have to mean that) scares me.

I don't think it's all the strange or surprising to feel like that. I felt like that too, after a string of failed relationships. I just felt like I would probably be single forever, and I was 100% at peace with that idea. And there really is nothing wrong with feeling that way.

I did end up meeting someone after that who I now trust with my heart, but I was a very, very happy single person. I don't think there's anything wrong with being a happy single person.
