Men tend to stereotype women as a group and women tend to stereotype men as a group (and to a lesser extent, they're stereotype themselves). For instance, a woman will say that all men are pigs and a father will say the same thing to his daughter. Men will say women play head games and women will say that women are backstabbers.
Some things have truth to them, but as stereotypes, they're very exaggerated. Women are socialized not to be blunt and not to be assertive. Instead of asking something directly, they'll often weave around the question that they really want to get at, making the person who is supposed to answer a bit confused or "trapped."
However, it's not as exaggerated as the stereotype suggests it is.
