Review was submitted WITHOUT all the changes I'd just made!

Pretty much just venting because I'm tired and cranky and very upset about losing several hours of work...

I decided to finally submit a review, my very first. I started it earlier today with the bare minimum of information then saved it as a draft.

A few hours ago I went back in and added in photos, filled out and fleshed out all the various categories then submitted it. The next screen pulled up and to my absolute horror, the submitted review is basically whatever was included after the last time I saved it as draft! The only new info that I can find is where I had to tweak the "pros" because I exceeded the 100 maximum characters when I first tried to submit the review.

Was this just an unfortunate glitch? Was I supposed to save it as a draft again before submitting it? I submitted a support ticket but sincerely doubt anything can be retrieved. I also contacted the person listed as the review manager and the review status has just been changed to "revision required" and I can now go back in and edit.

After jumping back and forth between all the sections I can't even begin to remember all the things I added over the past hours. I need to go to sleep and see if I still want to bother with a review after all. I'm disheartened, to say the least.

Awww, I'm really sorry that happened! I would feel frustrated too!

Whenever you make changes to a review, the changes do need to be saved before submitting it to be published. Hopefully, you'll get some helpful information from your support ticket about this specific review.

I will tell you 2 general tips that I have found helpful (after finding myself in a VERY similar situation). I use the Lazarus Add-on for Chrome. This saves the information you put in text boxes on various forms. I've found it to be a lifesaver on more than 1 occasion! ALSO, I always write my reviews in a Word Processing Software, and save it there before entering the info on here as a review. Sometimes, I'll even open up the review window like I'm going to write the review here so I can see all the categories. But I only write the review in Word and save it there. Then once I've done (and saved) all my tweaks, I finally copy/paste it onto Eden and submit it.

I know these tips will probably not help you with the current review issues, but maybe they'll help you in the future. I sure learned the hard way myself, and was equally frustrated!!

I commiserate. As a blogger this has happened to me quite a few times. It's so frustrating.

Thanks for the tips. . I guess what made it worse last night is that I was originally going to write my review in a Word document (satellite internet has been really bad since last Monday) but decided I needed the prompts & tips in the long form online to help me write my first review. D'oh! That sure didn't work out the way I planned

If I do any more reviews I'll definitely be writing them in a separate document then cutting & pasting.

I had more glitches this morning. After clicking on the edit button below one of the categories my screen refreshed and the top of the page said I'd submitted my review to the editor. Huh?

Got the new review manager to send it back for revisions and I'm not touching that puppy until I get it re-written in Word and I'm ready to cut, paste & submit!

Thanks folks - misery does love company.

I'm not discouraged anymore, now it's personal! lol. I'm determined to get this darn review re-written, approved and posted online even if it kills me.

Kinda at the point that everyone could vote it absolutely useless and I'll still consider myself a winner just for getting it done.

That's the spirit! We've all had problems and glitches and it really bites but the rewards are worth the problems. I highly doubt we'll find it utterly useless especially knowing the torment it took to publish the damn thing, but I get your point.
Hopefully, the rest of your reviews will go smooth as butter since the first was such a bitch! One can hope, right?

I re-wrote the review and I know it's not as good as the first one I wrote but I guess after writing in fits and starts I kinda got into a groove last night and the last several paragraphs flowed out of me. It's just that right after I saw that it'd been published I began remembering a few interesting/funny/goof y things I'd written last night that were some of the high points. Oh well, live and learn.

But, I'm not unhappy with the one I wrote tonight.

I'll wait and see how this first one goes before I being thinking about writing another. Who knows? Maybe I'll do a second review before another year and a half goes by!

I'm glad that we were able to get this worked out! It looked great the first time I got it, and even better the second time. Most editors are totally understanding about stuff like that, and it was an honor to edit your first review. Keep writing! We need people like you around!

There have been SO many review glitches latley, I don't know what's going on. They're probably changing some things behind the scenes and getting ready to release some new part of the site, but they're fixing the bugs BEFORE it goes live. Silly Eden!

Thank you so much for your quick responses, encouragement and kind words, Ryuson!

I'm actually relieved to hear there have been system-wide glitches because I thought I might just be special, and not in a good way. LOL At work I often have computer issues while everyone else continues to hum along smoothly.

This review wiped me out - okay, maybe Buck had a little something to do with it - so I don't see myself doing another immediately. But, I hoping to find inspiration in some of the new toys I just splurged on.

*UMA* should be here tomorrow (fingers crossed) as well as a few other toys that have been sitting on my wishlists for months and months so I expect to be too busy to write any more stinkin' reviews!
