How would you rate a review from another contributor on a product that you also wrote for but it had a opposite overall rating?

I would find it was just as useful as long as all the information in the review was included.

If it's a good review I rate it as such, their personal opinion is just that. We are voting on the way they wrote it.

Depends on the overall quality and the information provided

I'd rate it on the quality of the review. People are different. Just because I like one thing doesn't mean that everyone does. Because we are different our experiences vary. I remember a few years back some friends of mine were horrified I didn't care much for a popular book. It was just so-so to me. I couldn't believe how defensive and almost name calling they got over that. I just didn't like the book. Didn't say it was wrong to like it, just that I didn't care for it, and I recommended books I enjoyed more, but they got so upset. Their problem, not mine.

An opinion is an opinion, that doesn't factor in to usefulness.

I always try to ignore my personal feelings when voting. Something that worked for me may not work for someone else. A great example of this was KY Yours and Mine. I definitely didn't like it, but I still gave good marks to those who did enjoy the product (given the review actually was useful of course).

I rate reviews according to how detailed they are, personal opinion aside.

I would rate it based on the review's actual usefulness. I mean, just because I don't agree with the opinions in the review doesn't mean that it's objectively less useful. If it's a good review full of information, then I'm going to rate it as such. If it's crap, then it's crap and that's how I'll rate it.

It's like having a debate--a good argument can sway you no matter if it's for or against a product or stance. I find well-written reviews to be very much the same.

It depends entirely on how well the review was written, really.

Agreed, I vote reviews on how well written, informative, and easy to read they are.

I agree with this!

What works for me won't always work for someone else and vice versa. If the review was informative and I considered it EU, then I'd rate it EU.

I wouldn't hold that against the review. As several people said, you are rating the review not the opinion.
